Amazon DVD trade in
Since I'm moving to Blue Ray, I'm looking to get rid of my 500+ DVDs.
Has anyone done the Amazon trade in, and have any comments on it?
I gather that they only pay $2-4 a title, but the Blue Ray stuff is under $10 now. TIA
p.s. Don't bother telling me that DVD is adequate, this is a critical move to upgrade all my TVs to big LED LCDs and DVD players to BRay and keep the GF in the dark (I finally drank the BRay Kool-Aid).

I picked a movie at random....Looks like they would give me a $4.50 gift card....The BR version costs $14.99 .....So it would costs $10.49 to upgrade. And I probably would have paid at least $10 for the original DVD....
OUCH - does anyone watch enogh movies to warrant $5,000.00 just to upgrade to BR?

I felt the same way when I went from VHS to DVD.
While I would "spend" the gift card value on heavily discounted titles, most of my BR movies come via rentals from Netflix.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
I say sell those DVDs now while they are worth something and then slowly build your BR collection over time. Buy only deals and don't get in a rush to have everything right away. I think you could do it on the cheap if you are patient.

Yeah, I'm going to trade in all the DVDs that I never watch any more and use the card to buy a BR player. Then I'll slowly pick up new titles when they are on sale. In the meantime I have some DVDs left and Netflix BR disks.
