I don't think that he'll make a good "normal" QB either. Of course, statistics are on my side with most QBs drafting failing in the NFL.

But I think the wildcat is an EXCELLENT suggestion... he may be perfect for that!

    EAGLES release Westbrook?!? W-T-F?!?

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/P...stbrook-022310

The Philadelphia Eagles have released two-time Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook.

Team officials announced the move Tuesday.

A former All-Pro, the dynamic Westbrook led the league in yards from scrimmage in 2007 with 2,104 yards. He rushed for 1,333 yards and accounted for 12 touchdowns that season.

But he spent much of last season on the sidelines. Westbrook missed eight games with a pair of concussions and an ankle injury.

Westbrook had only two touchdowns in 2009.

He has rushed for 5,995 yards in eight seasons in Philadelphia and caught 426 passes for 3,790 yards. The 30-year-old Westbrook has accounted for 68 touchdowns rushing, receiving and on punt returns.
Wow. The guy is injured for part of one season and they let him go... crazy!

Julius Peppers is going to be a free agent as well. Risky pickup, but somebody will pay him top dollar.

He's injured part of EVERY season. He's far too unreliable to depend on. Especially if you're an otherwise solid team like the Eagles.

    edit: what's risky about Peppers?

I knew that he was out last year for some time. But I can't really recall other significant injuries during the rest of his career.

It seems to me that Peppers is horribly inconsistent. He seems to alternate seasons. One season, you'll get what you pay for, the next season not.

He only plays healthy about 13 games a year and sets most of his stats in about 6 of those games. And other than 2006/2007 he's pretty much just been another Reggie Bush. Good, but not a great "running back."

That's not at all accurate. He's been stellar every year except one.

You have these two players reversed. Peppers is consistent, Westbrook is anything but.

Westbrook was awesome and I am sorry to see him go. I think he will retire. He had a great run from 2004-2007, but he is done. Chronic knee problems and now the 2 concussions. I believe he came out of college with bad knees.

Peppers is real good, and the Eagles are actually one of the teams he could go to. He does have a reputation of taking plays off, but hes kinda like Moss in that he is so good you can live with it. I do know that him and Trent Cole (who has one of the best "motors" in the game) would be an unbelievable D-end combo.

Also, Westy is 30, which pretty much is the end of the road for running backs. I knew as soon as Tomlinson was released Westy would be next. The worst part is when I play Madden he won't be in there anymore, and he absolutely owns in that game.

Westbrook has missed games every year. But most of those years he's only missed a few. And his production has been so stellar over the games that he has played (on average) that I for one would live with his overly high rushing average, and him being an absolute threat out of the backfield... at the expense of 1-3 games per season lost (on average).

I wasn't aware of any issues with his knees, but his concussions were well documented last year. Oddly enough, for a RB, concussions don't seem to be a very typical injury that I hear about.

I am wrong for the mostpart about Peppers over the course of a season. May be splitting hairs, but the season that he had 7 sacks can't be considered "stellar". That's a bit less than what I would expect for out of a DE like him. I had thought that he had a bad season last year as well. Guess that I was wrong.

Yeah, he had a sophmore slump. So he's X number of stellar years, an average year and a poor year. He's still one of the best in the league and worth some big money. Kinda surprised he's sick of Carolina since I thought he loved it there, going to UNC and all.

Looking at season stats doesn't really tell the whole story. On a game-by-game and ESPECIALLY on a play-by-play basis, Peppers is not a consistent player. He gets attention because of his sack stats but all the Panthers fans I talk to pretty much say he only tries 1 or 2 out of every 4 plays.

Westbrook will sign with a team and will be used sparingly. If I had room for him on my team, I would use him as a 3rd down back with very limited carries, and consider having him return punts. He is an amazing punt returner. Philly did not use him as one very much because of the huge role he had in the offense, but the little they did he was outstanding.

Gee, I can't wait to see which old-and-busted RB Seattle brings in this offseason. :/ I loved these players, but they do indeed tend to be finished once they hit their 30's.

On the other hand, Carroll is supposedly wanting to start from scratch and build this team correctly, via the draft. I certainly hope this is the case or the Hawks will never be competitive again.

The NY Jets are on fire this offseason. They picked up LT and Cromartie from the the Chargers. Cromartie and Revis could be the best cornerback duo in the game. That is if Cromartie can manage to not have any more kids. The Jets had to give him $500K up front just so he could make his child support payments.

"Cromartie, 25, has fathered seven children by six women in five states." Who was that NFL running back that had 7 or 8 kids? He was on Denver for awhile I think.

Anyways I like what the Jets are doing.

Travis Henry is broke. Plus he's either going to jail or is already in jail on drug trafficking charges.
