    What happened to this site?

I used to visit this site two or three times a week - seemed like there was always a good article or review to read, and they used to do those system builds on a fairly regular basis. I lost interest about a year ago because it just seemed nothing was happening. I stumbled back in today because of a bogus hit from a search engine, and about the only thing I see are cobwebs. The 'Weekly CPU Prices' appears to be current, but that info is readily available elsewhere - that alone is not enough to get me to come back.

Like you - the sites owners have shifted interests...Its more about the support forums then it used to be...

I just made that up - but it sounds good.

Then there's the part about how the world is full of sites that do builds and reviews etc. aka - readily available....

This place isn't as nearly as active as it used to be either. I used to be a hardcore video card person, but I don't even know what's what anymore.

My interest for PC hardware is still fairly above average, but I think the biggest thing that's changed is that the competition is just not there anymore. It's clear what the better product is now. It was fun before to try to get your Willamette to go faster than a AMD Athlon or hoping Maxtor will come out with the next big thing. I miss those days.

Would you, or anyone, care to suggest a few of these sites? I haven't been able to find any that can live up to the old Sharky buyers guides.

I also miss the system builds. I wish they still did them. That's how I kept up with new hardware.

Extremetech and Anandtech are the places where builds and testing are done.

(The forums are better here, though!)

I agree with the other posts that I had Sharkyextreme as my favorite build site, and don't like that it went stagnant (and that it never announced anything about that change).

I use Anandtech a lot and it's helpful in areas, but don't know anything like the Sharkyextreme build guides. There are oneoff build threads users answer questions.

Funny enough, I was coming here for the link to build guide over a year old I bought a case from, after an AT poster said the case is 'junk'. more more discussion (I like it).

It's funny, I can't recall seeing Sharkyextreme mentioned almost anywhere else. I guess that didn't help. Be nice to see the site pub lish more guides and articles.

Alex Ross sold it and left, Sharky Extreme hasn't been worthwhile since I don't know when. I haven't even looked at the main site in probably two years.

Sharky Extreme is so dead I forgot they even had a site still. The forums only consist of a handful of people now that still post consistently.

My computer updated the DSL on my computer, but it shows the time on the site to be an hour behind, i guess if i set my time back it would stop, but its no hassle just to click on it twice when i log on to get rid of it.
