TP-Link Router not giving 150 Mbps
Hi,
Details:
1. Using XP Pro SP3 (32-bit)
2. Laptop = Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E
3. Recently purchased a TP-Link Router (TL-WR740N) which claims to give 150 Mbps speed
The Problem:
When connected, my Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN shows a speed of only 65 Mbps . A friend came over with his laptop (having Windows 7) and was able to get 150 Mbps speed.
Can someone please help me fix the problem so that I can also get the same speed. Do I need to upgrade the driver? If so how and from where? Or maybe the solution is much simpler? Please help. Will be very thankful.

Did you actually measured the "Speed"?
The number displayed as "Speed" is Not really a measure it comes from a table in the drivers.
Different laptops different drivers can display different numbers while the speed is the same.
In addition it might be that the Sony is better could be better card or better Antenna.

Hi cat53,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry but I'm not clear regarding what you mean by measuring the "speed". How do i check that?
When my friend was over we checked the same sites, in a side by side manner, and i got the sense that his 150 Mbps was really offering a much better connectivity. I think his was a HP or a Compaq (don't recall).

Download from a fast server (Microsoft download is an example) a file of about 10MB and measure the time.
Regular DSL is about 3Mb/sec.
Regular Internet cable is about 8-10 Mb/sec.
FIOS is about 20Mb/sec.
Thus, whether the Wireless does 65Mb/sec., or 150 Mb/sec. is rather meaningless.
Both are well above the capacity of the Internet connection.
