Got my EVGA 480 GTX videocard last night!
OK upgraded from a 280 GTX to the 480 GTX and so far I am very happy. I can FINALLY play Crysis with maxed settings, 4xAA, 16x AF, 1920x1080, not sure why but it wont give me 1920x1200 now. But Crysis FLYS without any hiccups and my temp hasnt risen past 91. Crysis seems to be the only game that can get the temp that high. Batman Arkum Aslym runs even smoother and the temps never exceed 80 with that one. Idle my temp is about 48..... I just installed Alien VS Predator 3, and now I can enable direct x 11 AA, and all the settings are maxed and that game looks and runs great as well. Also I play an old game called Marvel Ultimate Alliance that runs smoother with the new video card.

Actually, this card is running 45 degrees when Idle, this is without any AC on in the room, and I was just playing AVP3 for a while and it didnt exceed 90, maybe when it hits 90 the fans kick up a notch.....Cant tell anyway because I have a ton of fans running in my case. I dont know what it is but for some reason the smoke effects in games look better as well. Also when I was playing Star Wars the Force Unleashed I noticed that when glass breaks and shatters it looks more realistic... Not sure why...

Wish I knew how to post some screen shots. I just went back and installed Oblivian, ran it at 1920x1200 res, 4x AA, 16x AF, and 2 sample AA with transperancy. LOOKS UNBELIEVABLE and plays smooth as butter. Card didnt go beyond 80 degrees.

Congrats;
But it does seem a bit odd that a game from 2007 is the standard for a new card..
Don't get me wrong, I was the same way when I put in the first 5870, it just still seems wrong that there is nothing newer to push the hardware...

I agree, Oblivian is a very old game, and to be able to play it now with all of the eye candy maxed is pretty sad.... None the less, I am enjoying right now more than I ever did. I have to figure out how to take some screen shots in Oblivian...

Hmm, I haven't replayed Oblivion since upgrading.
Actually, I never finished the "Shivering Isles" expansion - I suppose I should..

Same here, well, actually, I did not even finish OB, bought Shivering Isles and played a level or so....guess I got distracted by some other game I was playing at the time. OB can't seem to hold my focus for long....
Hey, JKILLA74, 'grats on the purchase, it's a great card....not for me though. Not that I'm against buying nV cards, it's just that ambient room temp here in Asia has gone thru the roof. It gets about 32C midday, one guy with a GTX470 had a blank screen a couple of times I think, it was due to the card's temp hitting >100C when he was testing it in a non-AC room. That's a tad too high for my liking. So, howzabout some screenies?

It's ok, Crysis 2 is going to be out this year. The problem is, CryEngine 3 doesn't look particularly different from CryEngine 2.

Ok, just installed Unreal Tournament III, playing it with all maxed details, 1920x1200 res, 4x AA, 16x AF, 4x Supersampling and it runs FLAWLESSLY!!! The Heatray Physics Maps run and look unbelievable with this card. Big difference from my 280 GTX!
