It's an RTS with less base building.
Not sure about Chaos rising. I still haven't beaten the main campaign yet.

So it's more like Age of Empires?

Yes and no. Think of Age of Empires but without any base building. You're training units and teching up from your settlement and instead of training peasants to go and gather various resources you need to capture points around the map and hold them to maintain your economy. Your units come in squads rather than individually, these squads can be upgraded from the unit itself, your units can level up and you have a hero unit that has its own level track and a selection of different wargear he can equip. The different heroes represent different roles and each one can be adapted to work differently depending on the build you decide to use.
It's an RTS that strips out all the mundanity and focuses heavily on tactics, teamwork and adaptability.

Mako Shark
Nicely done describing it, I am working trough the campaign. It is different from any other RTS I ever played.
I enjoy the game very much!

Thank you.
I should also add that the campaign plays somewhat like an RPG with loot drops and persistant characters and whatnot. The single player campaign and multiplayer are so different it's like they're two awesome games in one package.

Gah...I want chaos Rising but it seems silly if I haven't even beaten the first game and I'm busy with so many games as well. If only Chaos rising with 10.

Buy it. The story is lame, there is no need to know the story. Chaos Rising is all about the extra features.
I bought it. Nice deal.

SenorDestro
Does DoW2 have a steep learning curve for online games? Seems to just reading some comments on forums.

Gonna derail this a bit. DoW2 doesn't have any base building. Doesn't that go against the COBRA mantra? I think Destro would be a Starcraft 2 man, myself.
