This is why I use steam:
* I don't have to worry about lost CD keys
* I don't have to worry about scarthed discs
* I don't have to worry about lost disks.
* They always have good discounts
* It's super easy! With Steam cloud.
I love the fact that my game files are stored online and I can access them anywhere. I recently switched PCs with steam, I took my steamp apps folder backed it up onto a HDD and when I did my new build I copy and pasted my files. Steam automatically installed all the games without me having to do a thing.

Damn them I just can't believe it! It sucks to have a company to actually care about their costumers right?

Yeah, Steam is the way to go. There are definitely some media forms where I prefer physical media, books, magazines, movies and music. The only one where I don't prefer physical media is games. Maybe it's because Steam is so good, maybe it's because you get the EXACT same product.
When you download music (legally), it's usually a vastly inferior product compared to the CD release. 256kbps vs. 1.4mbps, not much comparison.
When you download video, legally, it's usually a vastly inferior product. Most of the 'high definition' downloads have a lower bit-rate for the video than Blu-Ray has for the audio. Not to mention that it's pretty simple, if not free, to break the DRM on a Blu-Ray disc.
Books and magazines are still superior in their physical format as well. A game plays the exact same no matter if you bought it at Wal-Mart or you bought it on Steam. I'd much rather buy on Steam, that way I don't have to face the hoards of fat women in tight pants.
