    Question Used system value

Okay, I know a guy (through a friend) that is selling his system. I was curious if you guys could help let me know the value of it. General guesses are fine, I just don't keep up enough with hardware to be able to get a good feel for it.

The guy who is selling it is a decent guy (met him before) so I trust the quality of what he is selling -- just so you know.

    Here it is:
AMD Phenom II X4 Overclocked to 3.9Ghz
    Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UDPS Motherboard
    6GB GSkill DDR3 1600Mhz RAM with 7-7-7-24 Timings
Sapphire Radeon 5850 1GB Video Card
    Xigmatek 120mm CPU Cooler
    Thermaltake Nine Hundred Case
    Corsair 750W Power Supply
    DVD Drive
    52-in-1 Card Reader
Western Digital 300GB Velicoraptor 10,000RPM Hard Drive
Western Digital 1TB Black 7200RPM Hard Drive

Any thoughts, or ideas, would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks guys.

That is a very nice system, does it come with an OS?

    I would say $1000.

Does it come with an OS?

Look up the New Prices as a point of reference.
    What's his asking price?

    It can, Windows 7 Ultimate.

And you guys have already confirmed what I was hoping.

He seems to be asking a very reasonable $750 (no OS), $850 with.

I did some quick research and came up with $1225 on the low end (being VERY conservative with all the parts and "cheapest" prices). But I know this is a quality system put together by a gamer.

Be cheeky and ask him to do it for $750 with the OS and wave pure cash in front of him. Might as well try haggling.

However even his full asking is very reasonable ... Just go for it

850 for the computer with OS is a solid price. You might be able to get a slightly lower price if you paid it up front in full cash.

nothing wrong with reselled systems. it works out great for the seller and buyer.

    seller:
can fund purchase of new system and not have old system taking space not doing anything

    buyer:
can get good value on used system.

Agreed. In this case, the seller is moving to France and can't take the machine with him. And in this case, me (the buyer), did get a good price!

Thanks for all the suggestions and help guys. Got him to part with it for $800 plus a nice Razer gaming mouse, 1st gen G15 keyboard, and a decent gaming mousepad.

Still playing with it, getting it all set up, but so far very happy with the purchase.
