I vote we go without realID to stick it to blizz
How do you even turn RealID on and off? Is the only way via Parental Controls? That's the only way that I've found to do it.

Working on getting my name in their system changed. The hoops you have to jump through... I swear. It's easier to get change your name on a checking account.

YOU DON"T HAVE TO TURN IT ON OR OFF! Your friends list is composed of 2 different kinds of friends. Ones with their Real ID, and ones with the character name and code. The friends with Real ID on your list can also see your Real ID. The friends with the character name and code can see only YOUR character name and code. It's that simple.

Yeah, I get that. But I want it OFF. I don't like that it says my real name next to my character name.

I turned ReadID off via Parental Controls. Not sure if there is another way.

I understand the difference between RealID friends and friends added via character name/code. Some of us still want RealID disabled on our accounts entirely. Nothing to get upset over.

My goodness you guys don't get it. IT DOESN'T SHOW IT TO ANYONE! (ex. you and your Real ID friends of course). And if your really that worried about it why did you use a real name in the first place?
edit. I'm not upset, just trying to finally get the point across since Kam tried and failed many times.

When I log into StarCraft it displays my real name. I don't like that.

If I knew that Blizzard would use my name like this I wouldn't have used my real name when I signed up for a Battle.net account years ago. I believe it originally pulled my name from my credit card.

I don't use my real name for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, my Google account or in my email 'From' field. Hell, the user account on MY OWN COMPUTER doesn't use my real name.

Actually it's you that fail to understand. I want no part of ReadID enabled on my account even though none of my friends see my real name.

Ok but you are the only ones that can see your name. I just don't see the problem here. Do you really hate your names that much? I'm trying to see why you are so worried about seeing your names and that is the only way I can think of. Please explain. I'm very curious. I know I'm going to hear the whole OMG HACKERS FTW speech so save your time on that cause guess what; THEY CANT SEE YOUR NAME!
I really want to know why exactly you want it disabled. Other than not liking your names I honestly can't think of why else.
edit: Or maybe you just want to "stick it to the system?"

Seriously? Just let it go. Why does it bother you if people don't use it? The character name and code works just fine. The real id thing bothers me and I turned it off. Too much effort to turn it on, so what is done is done. More game talk less debate please.

Don't give two shits about whether you use it or not just want to know why you guys don't want to see your name?

In high school there were these two brother named Sean and Zeasean Butt. When someone did roll coll they yelled Butt brothers, as opposed to saying their names individually. Ha ha butt brothers.. It still makes me laugh.
