suggestions for sound via speakers
Hi all,
this may be a simple one or may not be, but;
I am unable to adjust the sound volume in the windows system tray as when I click on the slider all that's heard is the beep of the pc speaker. The sound on my pc works fine otherwise as when I plug in earphones into the (audio) jack on the back and or the front, sound is heard fine, so the sound card is working fine in itself (as are the drivers).
This is regardless of some speakers I have just connected to the pc (which don't require drivers-Boston Acoustics).
A little while a go I had to re-install my whole O.S and briefly I could adjust the volume slider ok until it changed (without any changes being made afterwoulds) to the pc speaker beep.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Well, it's possible that since you recently re-installed your OS you now have an outdated and/or inferior sound card driver. I would look up and install the latest driver for your hardware. When I recently did that for my netbook it cured a longstanding problem and gave me a cute little utility for adjusting volume, balance, DSP etc. It can't hurt.
