    Epia-M Motherboard - No Sound

This is a fresh install of XP. I used the drivers download from Epia's website for this motherboard. Even though Device Manager reports that the VIA AC97 audio controller is installed correctly and the speaker appears on the task bar there is no sound. I even tried the latest drivers from Realtek for the AC97 and they don't work either. The computer behaves as if it is playing the sound, but nothing is heard.

Any ideas? This is driving me crazy!

Afraid not. Already checked all of the volume setting in XP. Everything is at max.

Sure the speakers are plugged in to the correct port? Tried connecting a pair of headphones to the port?

Yes it's in the correct port and just to test I plugged it in to the other ports anyway and also used some headphones. The problem is not there, it is something to do with the motherboard and/or drivers.

    Found this on another board.....

I found out that I had to short two jumpers on the f panel. Jumper 5-6 and 9-10. And now I get sound on the lineout and I get to use the Vinyl Deck from VIA which gives me plenty of adjustments and more.

That was what I was afraid of. This board is inside a C64 and is extremely hard to get to now. Why the heck was the board set to front panel only from the start?! Bloody stupid!
