    I got 32g for the Droid X I ordered - too much?

I ordered a 32g card to max out the memory capacity on the Droid X I just ordered. Is this too much? The gal that sold it to me said that's more than her laptop memory.
I'm wondering if I wasted my money or not. I want to try to use the video capability on the droid x & see how it compares w/ my camcorder. I have a camcorder now that uses digital 8 tape.

This is STORAGE memory. It will have no impact on performance.

32GB will simply let you record for a long time. However, unless the device is fully 64-bit, which I don't believe it is, you will be limited to 4GB files, which is around 10-15 minutes per clip for 720p video at a decent bitrate.

For 720p video you will need a Class 6 or higher card.

Where did I mention performance on this topic? That's why I said it was memory, not RAM. When I use my camcorder, I don't use it for more than 5-6 minutes at a time, anyway. Was hoping to get edit several clips together for one big clip, like my tape camcorder. Is it possible to edit clips on this phone? Do I need special software for it?
BTW - do they make Class 6 or higher cards for 720p?

List price is ~$200 for a good card such as the San Disk. Verizon has them for $99. Keep an eye on Verizon because they have had the San Disk card for $50 on occasion.

I paid $78 for it. It comes w/ a scan disk adaptor & another adapter. The problem is, it's a class 2 card.
I heard I should have looked for a class 6 or higher. I guess it's not a problem, yet. < $50?? good luck.

Definitely won't be able to record HD video on a Class 2 card.

Where can I get class 6? I look online & only find generic cards for about $137. I'd hate to waste my money & find out it doesn't work on the droid x.

Ah, my bad. Forgot about that little detail.

I don't even know that 32GB microSDHC cards exist at Class 6 speeds. Perhaps these phones have an internal buffer that allows them to write to slower cards? Or maybe the Droid X just records things at an abysmal bitrate. I don't know.

What I do know is that decent HD video is going to well exceed the bandwidth of a Class 2 card.

That said, you may want to ask someone who actually has one.

When I record 720p video, my Droid X playback is a bit... stutter... so I was wondering if that's the cause of it...

EDIT: According to this review, it's class 4. How big is the difference??

Class 4 should be able to do 720p, although some stuttering would be expected if things are fragmented.

The real question is this: What bitrate does the Droid X record at?

    22.7 Mb/s...

    http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/...roidx-iphone4/

And since Class 4 max is 32 Mb/s, it SHOULD be fine... if it's not the memory card, wonder what is causing the stutter...
