Grats on the elite marksman combat badge, looks cool. I am currently working my way through the various medals/pins now, which is something I never really paid attention to before.

That is what I have been doing. I am working on my last 2 or 3 weapons that I haven't had a star for. Once you get all stars you get another badge. I got that marksman badge off an 870 headshot lol. I am running around as a medic with the 870 because it is the only shotty I didn't have a star for and I have stars for all the medic guns.

I am missing 2 eng guns and 1 assault.


And yea the friends list is freaking pointless. I have just been playing on the EVGA servers lately so you can usually find me there.

Same here, I don't typically give much attention to in-game medals and such until now. I now take a look at my stats at bfbcs.com and in the Next Events section it shows how close I am to certain stars, ribbons, etc. So I know refresh that site every so often while playing, and aim for the closest awards, and it has made the game surprisingly refreshing due to mixing up different types of weapons and playstyles.

Might be a problem with Punkbuster... has he tried updating it manually?

That was actually the first thing he tried, but it didn't work. He updated is video card drivers, tried disabling Physix, running without vent, and a couple other things he found could be the problem from various sites, however none of them fixed the issue.

Hopefully by tonight he will have it resolved, I would definitely be pissed if I was in his shoes and just dropped $30 and couldn't even play the game online.

Oh and to make matters worse, when I told him to get the game, he originally bought Battlefield 2 through Steam. I had to tell him that was the wrong game and of course he has no way to get a refund, so then he turns around and buys Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and now that game wont work haha.

I tried to play multiplayer for the first time today and got kicked from both of the servers I tried. I was only on each server for a couple minutes each, and the error said something about Punkbuster.

I have a desktop shortcut for pbsetup. I just run it on its own and it will update all the games you have that use punkbuster at once. Works well.

Permanent ban from a server for being on the winning team... I **** you not.

The exact quote from the console was that I had somehow "switched" to the winning team and I have was perma banned from a server, Admin decision. The server is called "The Whiskey Room" I was at the top of the chart in points and was on the same team for 3 rounds of play. I was on my way to another Ace Pin and BAM banned... The amount of douche baggery in this game of late has really put a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm about level 9 now I think, played a bunch last night after picking the game up last week. Great game, but dear god it's a sticky navmesh, you get stuck in/on everything! I keep running into trees that look like they're a foot to my left or right, or you end up trying to run up a hill and sliding back down... I realize they need to put constraints in but damn.

Punkbuster might do more harm than good. It's been out for so long you'd think they would improve it from time to time. I just installed it even though I bought it last week, hoping I don't have too much trouble with punkbuster or any other aspects of the game. I'll play some this weekend. I should pick it up pretty quick. Shoot bad guys? No prob.
