Do we actually take damage on the SMP server now? Seems like I remember that being in one of the recent updates but I haven't played in quite a while.

Well, that explains a lot. They changed the name of some of the variables, meaning that they added the new variables with default values (such as spawn-monsters=true instead of monsters=false).

Updated server.properties. I have changed the order of the properties so that they match the order that is listed in the wiki to make it easier to go down the list and double-check what might have changed in the future.

Honestly, it's creepers exploding that make me want to turn them off in the current world. I like our structures. I would rather they didn't explode.

That's why a few of us were asking for a separate world exclusively for survival and monster battling!

Do creepers basically blow up anything but obsidian? Seems like I remember some block types that TNT didn't blow up so I'm wondering if the same could be said for creepers.

    Nothing really.

So, disable them on the current world, and look into starting world 2.0 for survival?

*Edit: I am SOOOOOO happy they fixed the block respawn bug. mining is no longer a massive chore. before you had to literally click-wait-click-wait-click-wait to keep the blocks from respawning.

*Edit2: turned off monsters and health for now on the current server. I'll look into setting them up on a new instance tonight or later today depending on work.

    Spoiler

    *Edit3:
Just created a new instance for SMP. monsters-spawn and health-enabled both = TRUE. Same connection as before, but specify port 25567.
    So like this:
    <servername>:25567

Yeah, creepers explode in the same way as TNT.

But what are the block types that they don't take out? Just obsidian?

Obsidian and Adminium (the latter of which is completely unbreakable).

Hey, I played some on the new server today. Seems like there's a load of iron, coal and diamond to be mined. I already got myself a staircase to the adminium, the door is next to a small pond with sand around it, and an arrow made of torches. Holler if you want to pair up to explore the mine, there is a cavern I just discovered and by the sounds of it, a bunch of mobs.

    Happy Gaming!
