FYI...Mods will not be generating items in the second world. So don't ask.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

As long as we can do everything in game now (ex. pour water/lava from buckets, get gunpowder from creepers, etc.) I don't see a problem with that.

Pending any glitches or bugs, then yes. Also, until the Nether is implemented in Mp, I figure we might have a stash of nether blocks like light-stone and etc.
But don't expect 64 blocks of XYZ at the drop of a hat. I think the goal of this server will be to have a more of a survival feel so available and working items will not be given or produced freely. Though any final ruling is up to James.

I'm strongly for having no handouts on the survival mp server, not even nether-only blocks.

Agreed - we already have a server for that. This should be more realistic (well as realistic as a pretend block world can be)

Me as well, however I think part of it will depend on what features get updated in the future. If new crafting items become available that use nether blocks before SMP portal access is fixed then we may want to discuss some sort of trading system to monitor handouts. Maybe for every gold bar you get a nether block of your choice.
Actually, now that i think about it, I think that is kinda cool since gold has no real purpose right now. Mods can act as stores and sell unavailable items. However, people have to mine and trade available materials to make it happen. They'll even have to work towards hiding their precious metals from other users who may try to loot them. Could make for some interesting game play.

Nether blocks are pretty sweet, though. The standard ground blocks in there make for some pretty cool flaming fences since they never go out, and lightstone is great for underwater construction, looks pretty cool down there.
As Taggart proposed, though, a trading system of some sort could work pretty well. I'd hope Lightstone would be pretty cheap, though, since it's main use is just to be used like torches.

Agreed.
Btw...
As of right now, no one, not even me, is an admin/op on the new server. That means even if you wanted to, you could not spawn blocks from within game.
*Edit: Servers are updated and restarted.

Do minecart boosters still work in multiplayer?

I ****ing hate those GD mother ****ing GD creepers. **** them and their "stay alive during the daylight" stupid GD ****ing ********. ****ing ******* ****ing stupid ****ers.

If anyone happens to notice some huge craters in the area near the spawn where we can't actually place any blocks to replace them, I wouldn't mind having an admin or two instituted temporarily to fill them in.

BTW, monroeski, one of the creepers jumped in while I was leaving your staircase. BOOM! Well, I fixed it as much as I could with the supplies i had on me. Then I looked around and saw that you had had some problems with them as well.
And to the person who built a sandtower to the eagle's nest... there are stairs u know?
