And to the person who built a sandtower to the eagle's nest... there are stairs u know?

I'm glad that the SMP server is going well.
I've only logged in to make sure it's working so far. Haven't had much time to actually play lately.

Awesome.
My account of what I did on the survival server yesterday:
I logged in and found myself on a beach. I noticed a tower of sand beside a workbench and a door leading into the hill not far away. I hopped about intending to explore but a skeleton quickly made me realize it was nighttime and I ran back to the beach intending to punch trees for wood so I could start building myself some tools. Sadly, the game decided to bug out at this point and every time I'd destroy a block, it would just immediately reappear... and so I ducked into the hill door to wait out the night, a long corridor stretching behind me as I peered out the window.
The next morning I emerged and immediately got to punching trees again, this time finding that the server was a little happier giving me what I wanted. I made some tools and built a boat then sailed off into the sea!
I found an island that looked interesting enough so I got off the boat and started looking around for pigs as I was down to just 1 heart after my run-in with the skeleton the previous night... unfortunately before I could find a pig, I dropped a little too far and splattered weakly on the sand.
I respawned back at the beach as night was beginning to fall again and that's when Adi joined in along with someone else I was unable to identify. As night came full-force I tried to dig straight down into the sand to save myself but it was at this time that the game decided once again that it didn't want me to break anything and thus I was stuck in the open unable to even punch trees for more wood.
THE END.

I was planning on staying for a while but due to the block issue you mentioned just decided to stake out on a sand pole and log. The other person was my daughter (Zatanna)

"Watches You Sleep" Shark
We need a vent server for this.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Tiger Shark
Today:
* Fixed a rather bad memory leak bug in the server (entity position updates accumulated in orphaned player objects)
* Riding carts and boats now works properly when you travel long distances.
* Harvesting crops no longer yields fake seeds
* Removed /home (sorry!)
* Snowballs again!

Don't forget that you can't dig around the spawn area; the blocks just reappear there. You may not be glitching at all depending on how close to that beach you're digging, you may just be overlapping the spawn area. That's my problem with fixing the creeper crater in front of my mine staircase.

Double posting because I'm hardcore.
I take it back, first order of business will not be to find lava for a moat; first order of business will be to throw up a basic wall/fort around the spawn area so we'll have someplace safe to show up to when we die instead of the equivalent of Normandy Beach.
I've had some trouble finding coal on the server so far, strangely enough.

As always, my Vent server is available for all SF use. It's a 50-man server so just don't distribute it outside of SF and we'll be solid. I'll set up a Minecraft channel on there when I get home later, but for now you can use Kama's Sexy Room (pw: boobsftw).

The spawn now feature 'The Hut of Despair': a 2x3 enclosed space with 3 tiny windows that don't really give you a good view of anything, and an oven but no flower... MUHAHAHA, MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

I forgot that you can't dig around spawn areas. Maybe that's what was happening yesterday.

Indeed, that tree and that ground might have been too close to the spawn.
