If there are still enough people playing the game on the server, I'll definitely do that.

What exactly is going on there? I'm assuming it's not natural.

Can't access the map right now or I'd look myself.

We got some new people that decided to make Mount Doom.

Ironically, that thing on the right is/was their half-finished wooden castle.

Also ironically, this is very near the original (natural) forest fire that we found and explored together.

Can we tame wolves on the server? If so I 'll be probably be on more frequent again.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Yes, you can tame wolves, but it's a little less exciting than it sounds, at least for me. Pretty much all they do is kill things you attack at close range (so mainly the farm animals) and whine/bark a lot and get in the way when you're building.

You can make them sit/stay, and they will remain there until you come back for them. I have a couple of half-forgotten wolves scattered around now due to that, but if they were a little more useful (as far as attacking on their own, barking to warn of creepers, carrying things for you, etc) I could see keeping one (or more, you can tame as many as you want) around more often.

p.s. Beds work for changing spawn point now too, so it's much easier to wander off to a new area and make it your more permanent "home" since you don't have to worry so much about running all the way back from the spawn point to it.

    Will they attack other players?

If you attack an untamed wolf, it will attack you.

If you hit yourself with an arrow (shoot straight up), even a tamed wolf will attack you.

I assume it would attack other players, but I haven't tried specifically.

    You are correct sir.

Seems that the company that I have my server with (Openreaction.com) has some kind of major server/network outage. I don't even know the phone number to try and call them to find out the status.

When I know more, you'll know more. I tried emailing them at 9:36am this morning. Haven't heard anything yet.

*Edit: And it seems we may not have a server anymore. Seems Openreaction has closed its doors without warning. My server is still down at the AtlantaNAP, and I don't really have a way to access it. That's bad.

Got a backup somewhere? I can fling it up into EC2.

You'll appreciate the perfect storm of irony. My NAS is down which is where my backup is. The heatsink fell off the CPU. (Mounting clips broke.)

I think I just need to take a week off of electronics.

I have a backup of the creative server from 11/10/10.

    pros:
    - it is from before the creative server got ruined with TNT and water
    - maybe it is better than nothing?
    - it did convert to the new mcregion and load correctly in 1.4_01 when I tried it in single player
    - no one has really played creative mode server since about v1.2

    cons:
    - it is from before I built the football field even
    - when I loaded it, I spawned in lava and died (probably from pre-health-working too)

Is there a no-TNT server mod?
