"Watches You Sleep" Shark
I just completed the mines. I was 2 levels higher then the boss and it was a tense fight. i felt I was at a good level for it though I'm going to cut back on leveling with the exception of timed quests and collectpedia.
I want to focus on raising the affinity between team members.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
Hows the story? Everyone keeps talking about combat and leveling, but story is the reason I play JRPGs (which is why I don't play many of them.) Is it good or is it all Japanese silly?

The story is actually really interesting. I think the reason why you're hearing so much talk about the gameplay is because there's more to this game than just going forward and getting into random encounters, and that's pretty damn notable for JRPGs these days.

Pretty much spot on.
The game does have your typical JRPG elements such as the super cute best friend that secretly likes you, a self deprecating lead protagonist that just needs to believe in himself, that general message of "BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU!", and so on and so forth. However, all of that is handled in a fairly decent way that doesn't get too overwhelming at any one point and I feel like the characters are slowly starting to flesh themselves out.
The story itself feels like that typical "Lets save the world!" but it's quickly turning into something more. I've heard that the game has a high number of twists and that the story gets better so I'm eager to see what develops.
I really like the affinity system in that you can work to improve the relationships of towns people. It fleshes out more of the characters as well as offering you bonuses in the form of items, and additional skills trees. Apparently, each playable character has a 4th and 5th unlock-able skill tree by completing quests for specific NPCs. Even with out those incentives, I find myself spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to make people happy and it never really fills like a chore (thank fast travel for that!)
IMHO the overall story is decent/good. I wouldn't call it great but its still early in the game and I haven't gotten turned off by any specific character or story element. I'll easily spend a few hours with out even realizing how much time has past and I do think that impart to the gameplay and story.
I also recommend equipping female characters only in swim suit items.

You can import it from Eurporean game sellers though you need a modded NTSC Wii to run the EU disc on

oblivion's difficulty was great. the problem with it was that it just leveled the same mobs so that as a lvl 50 badass you would have problems battling the same mudcrab you battled when you were lvl1.. it should have automatically changed the mobs themselves as you leveled. fighting a lvl 50 mudcrab 30 hrs into the game kills all suspension of disbelief
the problem with xenoblade is that the quests are actually fun so its hard to tell someone to just not do the quests, it would have been easy for the devs to just add a harder difficulty from the get go instead of forcing the player to either skip quests (which makes up the bulk of the game) or have a cakewalk experience

Went back to Colony 9 just so I could see what the bikini looked like on Sharla. I was not disappointed. XD

I didn't mean to quazi single you out, I just hear issues with difficulty with every single RPG ever. I had to laugh cause there really is no way to make everyone happy.

I will say that the areas do have a mix of low and high level baddies so even though the leveling seems easy you always run the risk of accidentally attracting some high level monster that can smack you down from afar in one hit. I've had this happen to me a few times though once you learn an area (and what to avoid) its not a big issue.
