Is there seriously a giant square of land in the middle?
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I think the server blew up... or it just stopped working... I'm going with blew up.

I would think there were towns generated already in the little space we have explored (outside of the starter square).

Well that explains the sharp drop by the spawn. Anyone know the official place to report bugs?

Any votes to reboot the server for a new instance?

::raises hand:: Hell yes. It's truly a weird map right now.

*Edit: To be clear about something: 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 wouldn't even generate a new map. I had to revert back to 1.7.x, start the new map, then upgrade the server. So I could almost guarantee that is the cause of at least part of this weirdness.

Any word on maybe a 1.8.2 coming soon?

Yeah, I also spent the better part of this weekend in this map, and I think commanderkeen did as well. If you're gonna complain, complain sooner.

Yes, the square in the middle is real, and no animals spawn on that square. The vast oceans are also real. The first 1.8 map I generated was even worse...I started on a small island with nothing but water within about 200 blocks in any direction. I haven't heard anything about a 1.8.2, but I didn't have problems generating a world with 1.8(.0).

On the plus side, the map actually looks exactly like what I pictured in my head.

I vote that people keep the exploring to a minimum, or only in a certain direction so that when there is an update we can explore in another direction and those squares will have the new features.

Also, when real Adventure mode is released, that's when I want a fresh start.

Found a decent area with loads of wildlife. Feel free to build here if you wish. Dense forest just north of it as well.

Not just you, restarted the server.

*Edit: I have no problems creating a new world using single player mode. But with the minecraft_server.jar I got a ton of exception errors and it crashed.

I just logged in for a minute and it was raining inside my house...my house with a full dirt roof....

You might be able to generate a single player world and then copy it into the multiplayer world folder to use.

You know, if you wanted to deprive us all of our hard work or something.

I'd be fine with restarting the map once the next version comes out. That square is just weird.

I'll miss having the sweet cliff to build a base in, though.

Same here. When I get home tonight, I'll look into generating a new world for us. This one is kind of... borked.

*Edit: New map generated using 1.8.1 (Interestingly, I needed to remove the server.properties file and then put it back after generation, seems some of the legacy features might freak it out.).
*Edit2: New map generated, much simpler for now. http://www.darksavior.net/~minecraft/
