4 kindles...wth?

One for me, one for the gf, one for my mom and a Kindle Touch preordered!

What class are you playing? I'm thinking I need to level up my character more - I was only level 3 when I fought him. I ended up using the same tactic you described, and maybe I got unlucky, but every time I pulled that move he pinned me in and I couldn't move.

I did fight those ghosts but haven't ventured much further in that direction. Except for their pincer attack, they aren't too bad (provided you use that curse item!). I haven't ventured back since dying twice in that area, as now I can't even damage the ghosts. Kama do you know if there's another place to obtain/buy that item?

I started off as a Wanderer. It had the best arrangement of starting stats for me and his gear is super light, allowing me to dodge pretty easily. I think I was level 10 when I killed the Taurus Demon, but I started off at level 5 or 6. At level 3 I take it you started off as a Pyromancer? If so, I'd forget about using magic on this guy and start boosting some physical stats. Strength and Dex will increase the damage of most weapons and if you found the Winged Spear like I did, it requires 13 str and 10 dex to wield with one hand. I personally like boosting Endurance if I've got some souls I want to spend for the added load capacity and stamina or Vitality so I can get some more HP.

I'm using a Winged Spear and one of the shields that the zombies in Undead Burg drop. I was using a Heater Shield before that (bought off the merchant near the bonfire you're likely using).

Even with the Curse item I wasn't doing a lot of damage to the ghosts so I got the hell out of there. I haven't found any merchants selling that item. I got a spell since then that I haven't been back to test out, but I'm hoping it will do some damage to the ghosts. I suspect Blighttown (as the NPC called it) is down that way.

Hows the traversing back and forth? I hear there is no hub in the game and it plays more like a single giant world. That has me a little worried that it can be a pain to get around since there is no map.

Every new Bonfire pretty much becomes your new hub, and you're still unlocking shortcuts as you advance, so you really aren't doing a lot of back-and-forth travelling. Having the one giant world makes things really interesting and the world initially feels absolutely massive and daunting, and having no map and no compass means you need to make a mental map of the area. Still, the areas of the world are not so wide open as to absolutely require a precise map, and I think having one in the game would detract from experiencing the world as it is.

I haven't done any kindling and no mp for me yet. I don't plan on doing any co-op stuff unless I'm stuck and I don't think invasions are possible at the point I'm at. I will say that seeing other players seated near a Bonfire is shocking the first time it happens.

You cannot communicate with players you see at a campfire or anyone who summons you/gets summoned to your game. The only thing you can do is gesture to them. (hit Select for the gestures menu) Though I suppose if desperate, you could message them via the PS network.

ive been wanting to try this since i like hardcore games and missed the boat on demons souls... however my backlog of deus ex and xenoblade comes first

Even if you were to play Demon's Souls today, you would not have missed anything. Don't pass it up, it is a phenomenal game.

I'm playing on PS3.

I actually killed the bull demon on my second try. First time he got lucky!

You can drop on his head from the tower to take away like 1/3 of his life. If you stay reasonably close to him and roll away from his attacks there isn't much he can do. Also, firebombs.

I stopped playing last night when the next boss killed me dead.

Did any of you guys go down to the area with the ghosts yet? Those things are scary. :O

What weapon did you use for the taurus? I got to him and only have a short sword and no fire bombs. When I jump off I only hit him for 1/5th his health, and hardly do any damage to him on the ground. Plus I have a very short range so I can't hit, roll away, hit, roll away, without him hitting me. I may need to try to find some drops before I try him again.

Also, is there some trick to getting the drop attack to work? Sometimes I just fall right past him without hitting him even though I have him targeted and am pressing R1... I watched a youtube video and it is exactly what I am doing, but they are twinked out and hit him for half his health on a drop... I can beat him no problem if I hit like that, but I can't get more than 3 drops before he wrecks me because I get stuck on his leg or something lol.

Wow, its definitely the weapon. I went and looked around. I found a winged spear and a good shield. It made him sooooo much easier. Two drops and a black firebomb killed him. I was only lvl 6 when I tried him the first time...

It keeps getting postponed, I believe they will stay up through early 2012 as of right now. You have plenty of time to play through it.

Correct! Servers were going to close shortly after Dark Souls dropped but they got extended by another year.
