Announcement - Please Read

Unfortunately there has been a recent increase in unacceptable discussion in this forum. A majority of the cause behind this problem seems to be new-comers to SharkyForums who aren't entirely familiar with our Acceptable Use Policy. So in an effort to help curb away future violations, I am making this Announcement. We here at SharkyForums do not permit discussion about hacks, cracks, warez, or illegal serials. Discussion about where to download XP, how to crack XP, etc etc...are simply not tolerated here.

Without such rules we would inevitably lose the privilege of having SharkyForums. Repeated violations of our AUP will be answered with harsher consequences. So to all new-comers, consider yourself "informed" on our rules system. To all veterans here, you know the rules, keep it clean.

That being said, I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome all new-comers. We work hard here to maintain our community here at SharkyForums, which you are all now a part of. Welcome...and happy posting

Dear Griz, I should pro'ly just keep my mouth shut, but what the hell, I'm over 50 & I've been kicked out of better joints than this. So, w/all due deference & respect to the board, its moderators & members, let me ask you a serious question.

The thread came up over at the amdmb.com forums - Do you use a legally bought OS? - to which I replied:

Ack what the heck, i tried...so here goes:

Who is worse ? The company who stole Xerox' GUI, cracked it, put their own logo on it, and to date still sells it for $$$ ?
Or the bad bad evil hacker who cracks M$ cracked GUI and distributes it for free?
It is a plain fact that if M$ wasn't so stinking rich (see being a crook does pay)
they'd been split up in a heartbeat, and as long as M$ subsidies the government they can do pretty much anything they want.

That's not the issue, the issue is that it's illegal to partake in such activities and is also a violation of the AUP to discuss how to do it here.

Stealing something that is stolen is still stealing. Buying anything from a monopoly is also not illegal nor does it make you an accessory to crime. Grizzy made a good point and quite frankly no one really cares if you payed for your OS or not, the entire point was that we don't discuss such illegal activities here at SF. If you want to brag about your burned software there are plenty of other forums to do so on. Don't jump on a guy for doing his job and helping to keep this place appropriate.
