    Question Corsair H60 PROBLEM

After more than a month of trouble shooting I found out that my brand new Corsair H60 water cooler is not recognized by my MoBo/CPU and stops the start up within seconds. I went into the BIOS and told the MoBo to ignore the Fan Speed, but it does not help. Has anyone heard of this? I can use the AMD stock fay without any problems...but I wanted something better.

So, the pump doesn't work? You have to hook up the pump to a system fan slot so it runs at max and connect the fan to the CPU fan header, which is PWM. The pump would not be recognized on the CPU fan header because it is not PWM. You should still see RPM readings though (my pump ran at around 4000.)

The fan is what the motherboard controls, not the pump.

There is a 4 pin plug that comes form the fan, and there is a 3 pin plug that comes from the part that actually sits on top of the CPU. Virtually no instructions from Corsair, but what it does say, "use any available pins". I plugged in the 4 pin into the MoBo slot for CPU Fan, and the 3 pin is about 2 inches away and is one of the only ones available. If I read your pst right, I connected as you said.

So what you need to do now is to download Hardware Monitor. Run that program and see what your fan speeds are. Post a screenshot of that program and we can check it out further.

The program and screenshot should look like this (with different numbers of course):

    Here is the download link:

Sounds good, but this will only give me the function of my AMD fan as nothing works with the Corsair...or am I missing something else?

u need to troubleshoot the H60 out if the case, make sure it is running properly when hooked to a naked PS (not connected to anything, short green wire to any black on main power feed with an bent paperclip to jump start the PS), then listen and feel if anything is working, especially the pump as all your shutdowns are caused by a huge heat spike everytime you fired the rig up...did you ever put your fingertips on the waterblock/pump after shutdown, I will bet it felt rather toasty....

as a side note, one time my pump failed, the sytem did shutdown, but the water block got so hot it distorted the waterlines coming and going from the waterblock, necessitating tube replacement, refill, and a whole lot of work...thankfully it didn't spring a leak inside the rig....

I suspect that you will have to RMA to Corsair so you should just get the air cooler ready just in case you have to wait a couple of weeks for replacement...if you keep cycling the heat spikes, sooner or later something may/will burn up.....

too bad you are not closer, I would zip over and troubleshoot your rig, I have about 20 years into custom cooling, seen and done just about everything except for LN2 (I did see a demonstration at one of the AMD workshops back when the 965 came out back when I lived in California)....

Hey, it has only been -20F the last few days...come enjoy the snow!

I am going to return the pump to the shop I bought it from last month. If they give me any problems, Corsair has already said they will RMA it for me...good company.

My concern was that there could be a specific issue between the H60 and the Asus MoBo...not a bad ccooler. I have not found anyone else with this problem, probably just a bad pump. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

I'm running an H70 with an Asus board, no problems. I found it pretty easy to install, just hooks up to a fan header.

Good luck with it. As my sig says, I have the 2600K running 4.6 - 100% stable with it.
