Hammerhead Shark
Just finished Alpha Protocol. I went in not expecting much thanks to the internet, but I really enjoyed it. I definitely got my money's worth ($10 new).
I picked the Rookie class and went with stealth and pistols. Very Deus Ex-ish.

"Watches You Sleep" Shark
Just beat skyward sword. Clocked in at about 55 hours with about 98% completion. I actually liked the story but the controls were the most aggrivating thing about it. That said, I thought the actual game design was pretty good. I really enjoyed the whole time stone mechanic and thought it lent for some new and interesting puzzles. The game also answers some of the Zelda lore which I thought was a nice touch.
If you can get past the controls, I highly recommend the game.

If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Has got that jut
Finally done with Wild ARMS and moved on to Final Fantasy VII.
As I've mentioned before, Wild ARMS has aged surprisingly well in all ways except combat graphics which are god awful. The fights themselves are a bit lackluster and slow as well but it's nothing that frameskip on an emulator can't fix. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it still is.
...but as I've also said for years it's hard to look at the combat graphics of that game and believe that it came out within a year of FF7, and now that I'm replaying FF7 there are a LOT of things going on that make it hard to believe they came out the same year. The worst FF7 graphics (town/world map character models) are still way ahead of the worst WA graphics and FF7's combat graphics are still good enough to be an upper-middle tier 2012 indie game. The towns are just more alive feeling with the NPCs running around and scripted sequences and such while WA just had the old "NPCs randomly move up down left and right" type stuff. Only a few hours in, haven't even raided Shinra HQ yet, but average random combat already feels more varied than WA did in the end game and the animations and such are much faster. Even little things you don't think of like the multiple overlapping text bubbles in big crowds in FF7 just remind you of how massive of a leap forward that game was back when it first came out.
WA felt like a good old game; enjoyable, but obviously made a decade or more ago. FF7 still feels like a good modern game, out of battle character models notwithstanding.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
FF7 was mind blowing when I played it. I bought a PS1 just to play that game and was mesmerized for months. Although the overarching story was a little convoluted, FF7 was the only game that made me really care for the characters.

FF7 is one of my favorite games ever. I still have the original PC box with install CDs from probably 15 years ago.
If there are any FF7 fans here who played Dark Souls, give this a watch. I busted a gut laughing.

What you gonna do?!?
Portal 2
6/10
+Very funny
-Where's waldo the video game
-Way too long
So I just did not like this game at all. It was very funny but man the gameplay was so lame. Sequels are not for me anymore I guess.
Gonna jump into Twisted Metal now, never played one before and hoping I like it.

I still have my original black label PS1 copy.
A few years ago I found a SEALED copy of the PC version at a Half Price Books for ~$40. Fortunately, it was during one of their coupon weeks and I was able to grab it for ~$20 with a 50% off coupon. One of very few pure collector's game purchases I've made; I've gone overboard on a CE or two in my day, sure, but the only games I've picked up a second copy for pure collector reasons have been Dragon Force (~$7.50 a few years ago with one of the rare disc arts) and that copy of FF7.

Mass Effect 3.
Epic game. If you are bought into the ME universe, it's a must. The game is disturbing at points, some of the choices that you are forced to makes are bad choices regardless of what you do. Without spoilers, the ethics of certain choices leave you shaking your head and wondering if there isn't some way to get past without causing death and destruction.
The much maligned ending is... weird, but I wouldn't say it's bad. The combat is good, really good at some points. AI is much improved over ME2. Cerberus WILL flank and will set turrets to good use. Interesting that the Geth have a less robust AI, showing the inferiority of the machines to organics.
It was a great game that I will play through at least one more time.

Wow, nice find! I was thinking about playing FF7 again in the near future, but then I remembered Diablo 3 is about to own my life for the foreseeable future.

[Insert witty title here]
Found a complete copy of the Dreamcast version of Street Fighter III Third Strike, in good condition, for sale at a local used video game store for $12.
I'm not a HUGE fighting game fan, but it's worth it adding to the ol' Dreamcast collection, and it seems like a very entry in the series.

Finished Torchlight as a Destroyer on VH. I played it when it first came out, but for whatever reason, I never finished it. Good game, but I don't think I like it enough to keep farming for gear or increase rep to max.

I haven't played through a game entirely in probably well over a year. Recently, though, I've been getting some pc gaming in. I played through Braid a couple weeks ago. Definitely different and a lot of fun. I'd give it a 8.5/10.
Last week, I finally played through Portal. And now I'm almost done with Portal 2. I really like the "test" levels. Sometimes I don't have the patience for the "escape" type levels where it's not as obvious where you are trying to go. It's never that bad, but I prefer the tests where there is a clearly marked objective. I like the added mechanics in Portal 2; I think they did a good job adding mechanics from other science experiments without breaking the feel of the strictly portal & block based mechanics. I also like how they used the improved graphics to make the place look more wrecked. They improved the atmosphere and made it more interesting without compromising the original's clean feel. Also, it's hilarious. Right now I'd probably give Portal a 7.5/10 and Portal 2 a 9/10. I do think my Portal score would be higher, though, if I played it earlier. I had already heard and understood the mechanic and it's hard to live up to years of hype.
Not sure what I'll play next. I have quite a few indie titles from various humble bundles which I bought as mostly charity donations with little intent to play. Might pick one of those. I never got into Diablo, so it won't be D3 for me.

Has got that jut
Finally finished the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, which should mean I have more time to play a bunch of games, but of course now I'm playing D3 so everything else has fallen by the wayside.
That said, I can only play that on my desktop so all the other times of day when I'm in the living room on my laptop I'll still be playing other stuff. Still getting in a little bit of FF7 time but I've really been having a lot of fun with Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space from a recent indie bundle. It's everything I hoped it would be after all those years of putting off buying it.
