    670 is a monster

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/5818/n...ew-feat-evga/1

This thing is smoking fast. The slightly overclocked EVGA SC matches the 680 in performance and smokes a stock 680 when OCed. They got a 1200+mhz OC out of it. This card instantly made the 7970 and 7950 irrelevant. The only games that AMD cards are any good at are Crysis and Metro, but the nvidia cards aren't far behind in those. In SCII, Battlefield 3, Dirt, Batman, and Skyrim Nvidia takes it.

Really, there is no need to buy a 680 with these on the loose. A slight OC matches a 680 and the OC is devastating. If I was to buy today, it would be a 670 no doubt.

First time techpowerup has given a card a perfect score: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...t_Cu_II/3.html

Seems the general overview is this: Nearly 680 performance at $100 less in price, + immediate availability.

yeah sucks to be AMD right now... their CPUs are being clobbered by Intel and their GPUs by nvidia

im going to take it a step further and say that there is no need to buy even a 670 due to everything being a console port these days... even many of PC exclusives like SC2 and D3 run on average hardware. i am running everything near maxed out with a $100 cpu (i3 2100) and a $100 gpu (r6870). i think most people are waiting on the prices for the 660/660ti and possible price drop on the 7870/7850

side note, my gf's 11" macbook air ran the diablo3 beta just fine with a 1.6ghz cpu and integrated graphics

Sure, but its never a good time to buy a high end GPU if you aren't an enthusiast. They have never been marketed to the console crowd. To me there is a major difference in graphical fidelity between consoles and their PC ports. The upscaling to true 1080p + AA + AF is worth it alone to play on PC IMO, but a lot of ports go much further than that. I know BF3 is an entirely different game on PC. 64 player matches are the only thing I played.

I wouldn't say there is no need, I do agree there's less need as there seems to be fewer decent games on the PC that need the extra power but gaming at 2560x1440 with a bit of AA still takes a serious amount of performance to run smoothly as well as looking jaw droppingly beautiful at times.

But... when did $400 become the new "$200 super card"?! I remember cringing at the thought of having to shell out $150 for Voodo3 PCI card... >.<

Voodoo 2 12mb was 299, I remember being blown away at the price. Inflation though. That 299 is now 400 dollars with just inflation. That's not taking into account how much more expensive it is to do 28nm and the cards having billions of transistors.

I think people forget how cutting edge these GPUs are. We are lucky to be able to even afford this much processing power.

MSI GTX670 2GB's in da house!

Dang, dunno why I'd rushed out to get this, guess I'm in the mood to experiment a little...

Edit - Since it was a bit of a hassle to move my 2nd rig to install the card, I decided to install it in the most easily accessible rig....my 3rd rig, ya know, the FX4100. Yes, I know, some would be goin', "Holy bottleneck, Batman!"

What are the specs of your 2nd rig?

The FX chips are great in somethings, but certainly not games haha. Sweet card though. The best part about the 600 series is the power draw. I can't wait to see some custom coolers that don't hang off the back of the card.

    2nd rig -
    C2Q X9650 @3.9ghz
    Asus P5E (X38 chipset)
    4x 2GB KHX PC8500

    2TB WDC Black
    500GB WDC Blue
    Sapp HD6970 2GB
    X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS
    SS OP1000

I've installed the GTX670 in my FX4100 rig, the CPU OC'ed @4.2ghz, I've also installed my GB GTX560 OC Ti as PhysX card, unfortunately, the FW301.25 driver doesn't recognise the GTX560 Ti, neither does FW301.34 that I'd just downloaded. Guess I'll have to wait for the next WHQL driver from nV.

Whoa Nellie! That a heck of a good deal! I doubt you will be disappointed with that card, it is hella fast card, and can max out just about every game in sight, other than some games with PhysX (darn waste of time anyway). Anyway, the GTX670 has been installed in my improved FX build, in sig, here's a pic
