    You are free to farm wood anytime you want to. That tree farm on the 20th floor produces trees faster than I can cut them down. It's a very Sisyphean task, I think that's part of what makes me hate it so much.

    I created a diving board off the top of James Tower. If you just take a step off the end you'll land in safe, deep water. Falling that far invokes a feeling of vertigo. :O

    Nice!

    I also finally gave up and I'm putting in a ladder system on the opposite wall from the stairs. It's faster to scale the ladder, even if it's less "realistic".

    The ladder opening is 2 blocks deep, so if you step back from the ladder, you can free fall to whatever floor you want, or if you go all the way to the bottom floor, there is a small pool of water waiting to keep you from dying on impact.

    I can't remember who it was who was extremely suicidal off my building, tk maybe?

    It did that even at the lower max height, which I always thought was pretty amazing...that a "fall" from a fake height onto a fake-looking, blocky ground in a small window on a small monitor (compared to total FOV) creates such a strong physical reaction.

    I can't wait to try the new dive.

    James, you could put waterfalls somewhere around the edges of the building that could be used as water elevators. Super fast ascents and it wouldn't mess with the aesthetic as much as something like ladders would though the actual act of navigation to a specific floor would be a little tougher than with a ladder.

    I have never figured out how to make water elevators work. I have the one waterfall in the middle of the building, that goes all the way to the basement.

    The problem with your middle one is that for whatever reason , you ascend much, much faster when you're halfway in and halfway out of the water. Since your water is enclosed on all sides by the blocks of every floor it goes through, you can't ride the "edge" of the water all of the way up.

    p.s. A cool idea would be to have something that would look vaguely like monroeski's lavafalls, where each floor has its own water flow. Then you could just pick the floor you want to go to (they could be labeled at ground level) and ride up that one and you'll hit exactly the floor you're trying to get to. Of course that would also assume that there is a reason to get to any specific floor aside from the top.

    Been a while since I used one but IIRC you have to actually get in the boat in regular water then ride the boat into the falls. They work because basically 1. boats always float to the top of water, and 2. they don't recognize the "flow" of waterfalls going down, they just see it as water.

    If you just put the boat in the waterfall, it shoots up to the top and doesn't give you time to get in first. That's why you usually have to ride one into it. You may be able to just stand in the water and drop a boat below you without getting into it but I can't remember if it kicks out from under you that way or not.

    At any rate, just because of the shape and size of boats you need at least (again, IIRC) a 2x2 space to climb up in, which is why I said you'd have to enlarge the middle falls; try riding up that in a boat and you're likely to get hooked on one of the ceilings between floors. The waterfall itself can only be a single block (that is to say 1x1 falls) but you still need free space around it to ride up. For example, the ones on the corners of Monroeski Tower in the old server looked something like this:

    s = stone
    w = water
    a = air

    s s s
    s w a
    s a a

    *Edit: As a side note, looking at my construction on the map makes me aware of 2 things (linoleum also pointed out the first one).
    1.) My tower now blocks the sharky sign.
    2.) I am an extremely erratic and/or drunken builder.

    Well, I'm making progress. I've got signs appearing, but the text is not being displayed. (Every sign is 'undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined')

    The markersDB.js file that has the sign text has all of them logged correctly, it's just not displaying them on the actual map. I'll keep working at it, once I get basic signs done, I'll start making a more refined list.

    *Edit: Signs are working now. Any suggestions for filters, please let me know.

    I got short of breath once playing Deus Ex. I had to get back to the ground from Maggie Chow's apartment and didn't want to bother with the elevator or stairs or whatever so I just turned on god mode and jumped. The ground rushing up at me like that freaked my body out a little bit beyond just the weird feeling I get when doing things like Minecraft jumps, actually made my breathing feel constricted for a second and I had to take a quick water break.

    If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
