Ouya is well over $1,500,000 in less than 24 hours.
Interesting to see how strongly people respond to basically a breadboarded last-gen smartphone with an HDMI port.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
I like the idea of the project. It uses a Tegra3, probably the original T30. 1.4Ghz quad core with 1500mhz DDR3, 1GB worth. That's more memory than the 360 has. I wouldn't really call the Tegra3 "last gen." It was released Q4 last year and some of the models haven't even come out yet. Tegra 4 should match the 360, but Tegra 3 will be plenty for nice 1080p sprite based games. There is a lot to be done with basic hardware though. I've had the most fun with sprite based games over the last year such as terraria and super brothers than the hardcore 3D games. 720p basic rendering should be totally doable.
I'd be interested in developing for it if it took off. Definitely worth keeping an eye on. This is what steam needs to do to push more indie titles.
EDIT: Oh, they aren't bringing it out until march 2013 at the earliest. Damn, that's unfortunate. They will be swept away by the buzz surrounding PS4/WiiU/720. Not to mention James's point.

That isn't stopping people from dumping money into it. It's now up to 2.5 million. Averaging around $1 million per 12 hours. Not a bad clip.

Yeah, $100 to invest in innovation for your hobby. Not bad, even the virtual boy made that much. But in the grand scheme of things even 5 million is pennies compared to major console. This too me is something for the tinkering hobbyist, which I am not anymore.

This earned $20,000+ just in the amount of time it took to watch their video. Tempting for sure.

Kickstarter has become a platform for funding bad ideas that can't get funding elsewhere, unfortunately. There is nothing innovative about this product. It won't ship until a year from now, if ever, and it won't be $100. It will no doubt infringe on dozens of patents (legitimate ones too, not BS software patents). Gaming on Android has pretty much sucked hardcore with a FEW exceptions. Most game developers don't know Java. Java as a game development platform is pretty stupid IMO.
I've purchased a few Kickstarter products. Only one was good. In most cases, the only "successful" Kickstarter projects are the ones that support an already existing business, like Double Fine. Almost everything else is garbage, or—if the idea is good—by the time they get a product to market (if ever) an established company has "stolen" the idea and got it into channel.
If this actually ever makes it to market it's going to be $199, filled with technology that's 2 cycles old, and have crap software.
People are only funding this abomination because Notch said something nice about it.

Hell, the next iOS device will probably kill this. It will have like twice the graphics power and a huge library of games. You can just buy the HDMI out cable it's $40.
By the time this thing actually comes out, no one will even remember it with all the buzz elsewhere.

Awesome.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks the Ouya looks bad.
Defense Grid 2 on the other hand? Hell yes. The Kickstarter is rather misleading on that one though, because even though the goal says 250k, they actually want 1 million to make the sequel.

I see this OUYA device getting tied up in court for a few years while some patent lawsuits get hammered out. (think dualshock/sixaXxis lawsuit) Some staff attorney at Apple, Sony, Microsoft, or another big company will try to make a name for themselves going after this.
Even the name (wee-ya) is too similar to (wee-u). All it takes is one judge to hear one lawsuit out and this production is halted and all your Kickstarter funds go to the lawyers.
Reading comments, tweets, posts, etc it seems the older gamers are 'neat idea, hope it works' while the younger gamers are 'awesome take my money'.
I can wait to see how this turns out before investing. I've backed 3 projects. 1 video game, 1 board game, and 1 novel, I just can't back this.

Penny Arcade has a Kickstarter to take ads off their site. Somebody doesn't understand the point to a Kickstarter. That's pretty greedy.
