Both the test server and the "Adventure" server are running 1.3.1. Tuns out the portal bug affects the map either way, so might as well play, just play at your own risk. Old school server started with the 1.3.1 server version.
*Edit: Linoleum and I have started work on an automated cane farm. Should be pretty cool once it's done. It is currently 4 tiers high. I need to clean up the wiring a bit, but it does work currently using a switch.

Updated the server to 1.3.2. I have stopped the test server at this point, since nobody has logged into it since the 8th. So only the adventure server is running now.
Not sure if you need both the client and the server in order to survive portal travel, but at least the server piece is in place now, and is fully compatible with the 1.3.1 client.

Hey guys, question for all of you.
Since there have been so many updates since the main world was created, what are your thoughts on possibly starting a fresh map? I know we've all done a lot of work, but it might be fun to start fresh. Just wanted to poll opinion.
Personally, I don't mind either way. It would be fun to start from scratch, but I've done so much work on the castle, its grounds, and my house... would be a shame to lose that.
What do you think?

I'm kind of torn. It took me a LONG time to build my tower. Then again, there are certain things we will never see unless we start a new map.

i would bet there is some sort of 3rd party plugin/utility that lets you import parts of a map to another?

I think there is, but that would really just be importing our old problems (pre-current-version-generated-map) into the new map, and (I think) would end up being pretty much the same as just moving farther out in the existing map (both ways give you new generated map attached to the existing stuff). On the other hand, unless there's some work that's been done that I don't know about, with one exception of the portal that connects to the nether fortress out around -5000, 5000, I think we could probably do away with deleting everything out past around x=-3200 in the existing map so that we could regenerate all of that area (which is mostly water right now anyway).

Found this:
Yes. Use MCEdit. You can copy the section in your old map, and save it as a schematic, which you can then import and place into a new world (generated with Minecraft by starting a new game), overwriting what was there before. Make sure Minecraft is closed while you are using MCEdit, otherwise you can corrupt your map.
So theoretically we could save at least part of the current map.

Awesome.
We must keep the main base plus the enormous tower.

The tower is just a landmark, nobody uses it.

There's a new base that is better than the main base.
