I think you underestimate the manufacturing costs of electronics. The cheapest 3rd Gen iPad had a manufacturing cost of $306! The processor+GPU was only $23...

lol fine .. but who told you those sticks were without 1 year warranty lol ? they have full warranty and were packaged as well.

and please dont compare to Apple .. they wont make the Xbox 720 like an Apple product

    lets do the math again

    $200 CPU + $150 GTX + $60 8GB GDDR5 + $10 controller + $5 NIC + $5 Wifi + $25 HDD + $5 4GB system NAND + $20 logic board + $15 PSU + $10 Plastic enclosure +$5 cabling + $5 retail packaging = $515 Kinect optional

This. Steam sales have overloaded my gaming choices and there isn't a sign of that source for games slowing down.

The interesting thing about Steam is that it's already multi-platform, so they are already generating profits. Valve could, if they decided to, HEAVILY subsidize anything they build. They've already mastered software sales, and the lifetime value of a customer is through the roof.
First one is slated to be $1000... Def not competing with ps4 or Durango

That thing is a terrible idea. Why they think they needed to go that small has me puzzled. Its not like people are going to carry it around. An mATX or ITX sized setup would be much better and potentially cost well under half as much. mATX motherboard, Pentium G1610, 4GB of RAM, decent case, 500GB HDD, 660GTX, and a small power supply would be ~$400. I mean, the specs on the Xi3 are terrible: http://xi3.com/tech_specs.php
