    Disney shuts down LucasArts

Probably the most influential studio of my childhood. Monkey Island, Tie Fighter, Xwing, Sam and Max, Kotor, the list goes on. Star Wars 1313 also looked really promising. Definitely a sad day.

Ehh...classic Lucas Arts was awesome and will always hold a special place in my heart. That said, modern Lucas Arts hasn't really given us anything super awesome in the last 3 to 5 years. I think the last great game I saw from them was Star Wars: Republic Commando. Star Wars 1313 looked really interesting but I thought the same about Force unleashed until I played it.

Honestly I think this is a good thing. The Lucas Arts game franchises are now open to a wider group of skilled developers which hopefully means a wider variety of games in the future. I'd love to see how Rocksteady or High Moon Studios would handle Star Wars 1313.

If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

As I just texted to a friend, they won't be missed. If you even have a fond memory of one of their games that is younger than a decade they likely outsourced development on it.

Republic Commando, as taggart mentioned, was good and was developed by them but that was 8 years ago.

I honestly didn't even know they were still around.
