I'll be reading one of the various live blogs. Work isn't kind to the whole "Watching TV at 1pm EST" thing.

Some interesting things so far. The switching features looks pimp and Tv seems to be tightly integrated into the system.

    Another COD type game....snoooooooze

They seemed to spend more time on the NON gaming aspects of the device for this 1 hour fluff piece.

The COD video was nice, BUTTT I wanted to hear or see more technical specs on the characters.

I Will say that SONY out did them in round one. E3 will certainly show who has the better exclusive games and graphics.

Sony? You mean the people who didn't even have a device to show in operation and only showed the controller?

Only thing I want to know is if the blu ray player is 3d or not. Don't care about tv integration, don't care about kinect integration. I'll admit it's slick, but still want just a gaming platform. My tv already does most of the stuff they showed; at least to the extent that I care about.

I just do not think this "console" is going to work at all. I have a feeling that Sony is going to smash on MS this round.

So it looks like MS will be integrating "game trading" with their new systems and actiavely going for the used game market.

personally I think I'm looking to pass on this system. It seems less like a game console and more like a restricted multimedia PC.

Xbox One Does Require Internet Connection, Can't Play Offline Forever

    http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-requ...ay-o-509164109

    And here's the bombshell:

Kotaku: If I’m playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?

    Harrison: I believe it’s 24 hours.

Kotaku: I’d have to connect online once every day.

    Harrison: Correct.

I was expecting about what they showed. I didn't think they would give us a look at the console, so that was a bit surprising. I don't know what people expected. Watching the tech panel after the main event, the software director talked about them using virtualization layers for the gaming OS and the app OS. A delegate system lets those two OSes talk between each other, which is awesome for developers. They completely compartmentalize the gaming side from the app side, so each dev only has to worry about one SDK BUT the user can switch instantly between them. Its like the Halo Anniversary edition where both engines run at the same time and you can switch back and forth. Very slick.

They also talked about changing higher level functions of games as time goes on, so top end things like achievements, leaderboards, and such can be dynamic and change over time. A developer could easily add events to a game that are timed, such as seasonal achievements or weekend items. That's built in at the system level and supported through the software.

    Good stuff:
    HDDs in all SKUs
    Bluray
    8GB RAM
Force feedback through the controller triggers
    Controller looks great
USB 3.0 (Logitech G27 support please!!!)

Good stuff that I don't care about:
    Cable/satellite TV interfacing
NFL contract is huge (sony had it for the last two years)
    Multitasking

Flaky stuff, still to be determined:
    Processor/GPU
    Price
    Date
    Game price hike?

    The bad for me:
    HDCP on everything probably
Strange looking box, don't like the vents on the top
    Uncertain about Kinect

The bad that I don't care about:
    Used game fees
    Internet authorization

As for used games, I don't care at all. I buy all my games new to support the devs and the only games I've ever bought used were for older systems like the PSP. For the people that like to save 5 bucks at gamestop, I guess this is bad, but it doesn't affect me at all. Amazon blows games out so cheaply through sales that you get ripped off going to GS to buy anyway. Most games are 30-40 bucks within a month or so and still $55 at GS used. It sucks not being able to lend out games as easily, but eh. We deal with this through Steam and happily give them money, so no biggie for me. Actually its nice to have an excuse for not lending someone a game

To end, for people that were expecting games at the event, I guess you missed all the news saying there would be very few games at the press event. Games are coming at E3. 15 exclusives including 8 new IPs!

About the online thing. My 360 has been connected online since I bought it. For farmer kids out in rural Kentucky, too bad no shiny new Xbox. I would love to see a house that has a 1080p TV, a brand new Xbox One, and no internet :P. Its not like I'm going to bring my Xbox with me on a cross atlantic flight to play games on (the Diablo 3 argument.)

You have to be aware at how selfish you sound with arguments like that.

Honestly, I can't recall the last time i bought used because PC gaming has gotten so price competitive that I just by new later on sale. A shame consoles are pretty much doing the opposite.

Why should my buying decisions be made on features that people other than myself won't be able to enjoy? I and the vast majority of the people in the xbox demographic have internet access in their home. Selfishness has absolutely nothing to do with it. I was hoping to have a decent discussion with everything I wrote, but I end up getting called out for being selfish... *rolls eyes*

Oh come on, don't play the wounded ego angle. Everything you wrote was only based on what you want, which is fine, there is nothing wrong with that. But don't try to make it sound like it isn't selfish. You plainly state that you don't care about other people's situations, that is also fine. Just don't play ignorant, I see things you write here and I know your intelligent enough to realize that you have inflammatory statements in there. You are not trying to have an actual conversation, you are either trying to have a rally behind you or start a flame war.
