    Playstation 4 Owner Opinions Wanted

    Hey guys!

Does anyone have a PS4 that can comment on the UI and usability of the system?

With the PS3 I can say pretty certainly that I've spent more time applying system updates and clicking through ridiculous 5 part menus with 3+ second lag in the PS3 store than I ever did playing games. By the time I spent 10-45 minutes updating every time I turned on the system I'd be out of actual free time to actually play any games. Is this kind of pain still a problem with the PS4?

I had an initial update but nothing else so far. But I see no reason to expect anything different. To the best of my knowledge Sony "patches" internal whatever to stop piracy and if that is correct then what has been will continue to be.

The responsiveness of the dashboard however is significantly quicker. It is still clunky but the wait is gone.

when you initially turn on your system there will be an update, but it was pretty quick. The other updates downloaded and installed themselves as I just leave my system in standby mode when not in use. I don't know if that is a PS+ feature, or a PS4 feature, but it also downloads and installs any updates for games as well. The UI is easy to use. I wish it had folder options, but maybe later with another update. Otherwise it is a helluva lot faster than the PS3. You hit the PS button and bam you're at the main screen, hit the store and like a flash you're in the store. You can even be in the middle of an intensive game and hit the PS button to go to the main screen to check a message or whatnot and the game doesn't crash and it loads instantly back up when you're done.

Right now I'm using my PS3 in my office as a media player while I work from home and it just kills me using it to get in and out of VUDU, netflix, the store, etc. as it is painstakingly much much slower than the responsiveness I've come accustom to on the PS4.

This also carries over to the games. They load really quick. The biggest difference I've seen is in DCUO. It is night and day difference between PS3 and PS4. Load times changing areas, navigating menus, inventory etc is super quick. Plus the graphical boost is really nice. BF4 and AC4 I played on PS3 and upgraded to PS4 and besides the graphic change, the game and cutscenes, etc load much quicker. That's been the biggest benefit, as well as the much more comfortable controller (IMO).
