    Unhappy Hit-or-miss DVD playback

I have a Radeon 32MB DDR video card. I'm having a hard time playing many DVDs on my computer. Often a message will appear, "DVD copy protection initialization failed, playback stopped". Sometimes I can just hit play again and watch a movie w/o further problems. Many times the message will repeat continuously. ATI's tech support suggested using their special purpose driver 4.12.3063, but that had no effect. I'm going to contact them again, but I wanted to get your opinions as well. Thanks.

Every problem I ever had with DVD playback was fixed by washing the DVD with water and a cotton cloth. I haven't had that specific problem, but i've had similar ones that I've fixed with a cleaning.
