Post Getting ready to get a fan

Your goal is to oc a PIII cC0 up passed a gig, eventually. You've thought about water cooling and have shelved that idea for the near term. You just want to get that cpu online first. You're thinking that you MIGHT slip a peltier in under the fan though. You might, you might not. But you want to get a fan that will make that peltier possible. You're thinking either an Alpha PAL6035 or a F0P38. Or is there a fan you haven't thought of yet?

I'd be thinking an Alpha pep 66v2 with an 80mm fan convertor mailto:[email protected] slap on a Panasonic 80mm 47cfm fan http://millisec.safeshopper.com/52/389.htm?173 , slip a 72w pelt under it and your set.

the FOP32-1, FOP38, and PAL6035 are my top choices of fans. I'm too scared to get a Hog now, if it comes loose, I lose my CPU, video card, and at least one DIMM. That thing is heavy, and will wreak havoc on your rig if it falls. Something to note: If you have the Addtronics WTX case, the CPU is mounted on the bottom, so if the Hog falls, no harm done.

iamsostupid, about the Addtronics WTX case, how do they mount the CPU on the bottom? That would mean the motherboard is mounted backwards?

If price isn't a problem go with the Alpha PEP66T, if you are useing a slocket adpt. If not go with the FOP38.

The WTX stands for a different way of mounting the motherboard...supposedly improves the routing of wires and the movement of air to the hot components like the video card.
