Best CPU for the $$$
Hi All,
What do you think is the best CPU (INTEL or AMD) for the money?
All replies are very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Anything more specific?
I was thinking CeleronII 600 or Duron 600,
very high overclockability and they are cheap.
Thanks for the response

Well, I wasn't too sure what to suggest (especially if price matters) however, you've said that you yourself are looking at the Celeron 600 or the Duron 600. Pick up the Duron 600, it already offers more performance that the Celeron, and it can be overclocked to 900MHz without a hitch. PLEASE: Don't slack off by purchasing crappy RAM and a cheap power supply. Pay the extra money, get some Crucial CAS2 PC133 SDRAM and a 300W Power Supply (Preferably certified by AMD) For fan suggestions, ask around, I use a TaiSol, and my temperature under a full load is 109 Degrees Farenheit (43 Degrees Celsius) Not too good, not dangerous either.

Yes a Duron 600 or 650 would be very good they should hit 900-950 . 1ghz if you know what you are doing. The Celeron II is not worth buying if you need a new board it offers lower clock for clock performance than duron. It's overclocking abilities are also m/b limited.

Well said. The celerons around that speed are excellent overclockers, but so are Durons. As well at default speed and most average overclocked speeds the duron will wipe the floor with the celeron.

Its obvious.
First AMD performs better than any equivalent clocked and some even higher intel processor.
Second AMD is cheaper.
Anymore questions?
Dont buy into the Intel marketing.

Since equally clocked Durons kill Celerons, how can anyone even recommend a Celeron?
A Duron 700 will eat a Celeron 800 for breakfast and costs much less. So its Duron all the way. Funnily enough, Duron 600, 650 and 700 all cost the same these days (about $50), Duron 750 costs $60. So the sweet spot right now is a Duron 700 or 750. Celerons suck. Period.
