You may have to clear CMOS first, use your motherboard manual to locate the jumper.

well it cant even get to bios, its just a blank screen with repeated beeping.
after i clear cmos how do i restore the bios? when its cleared it wont boot at all right, so how do i even get it to run aflash?
I set the SDRAM Configuration to 7ns (143mhz) instead of 8ns (125mhz). Is this CAS?
thanks for any help

Lurking all the time
If you clear the CMOS, you aren't gonna have to flash your BIOS or anything. It should just loose all the values that you have customized in your computer. If you clear it properly, it should boot, and you will just have to reconfigure all of your customized settings!

Hate to double post, but to answer your question about the 7ns, and 8ns RAM timings, this doesn't change your CAS latency. There should be an option in there that changes from 3 to 2. I forget what it says, but you change the CAS Latency settings in your BIOS, and this will make it CAS 2. I would maybe reset the value back to 8ns, or whatever. It may cause stability problems!

ok cos i changed the setting from 8ns to 7ns, and thats what caused my computer to not boot. i cant even go back to the bios to change it
so how do i clear cmos? just plug in the jumper (in the case of a7v, i have to use a tweezer cos there are no pins) and turn on the computer? what will the screen say, and when can i let go? anything else i should know beforehand?
alternatively, what will happen if i take out the ram? will the computer boot at least into bios? will this damage anything?

When the computer starts, hold the insert key and the computer should boot up. It works with my mobo.
But clear the CMOS first! Do you know how to do it properly?

no im not sure how to clear it. i know i have to connect the two solder points (a7v has no pins), can i use a pair of pliers to short it?(read somewhere that tweezers would work.) I dont know what to do after. do i let the pliers go BEFORE i turn on the computer, or keep there as i turn it on??
also, what does holding ins do?
