Internet Con. Sharing & Windoze Ntworking
Hey all,
I'm trying to do some long distance tech support for a friend and we've run into a problem. There are two computers running Win98SE, #1 is connected to the internet with a USB DSL modem. #1 also has an ethernet card which connects it to #2. My friend would like to be able to run both internet connection sharing and windows networking (to share files) at the same time. When both computers are set to use Client for MS Ntworks as the primary windows logon they can both get to the internet (#2 proxied thru #1) but file sharing doesnt work.
When both are set to Windows Logon as primary logon, #1 can't dial up the DSL line but they are able to share files. With primary logon set as Windows Logon, #1 gets a "Server did not respond" type error when he tries to dial up.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Bash

I can think of two things to check, if you have already checked these then please disregard.
I currently run WinME with both Internet Connection Sharing and File Sharing but I was running the same configuration with Win98SE so I know it is possible.
1.) Go to control panel \ network then click the file and printer sharing button to allow setting of sharing.
2.) Go to control panel \ Internet Options and click on connections tab. Make sure the perform system security check before dialing is not checked. If it is checked, it's probably prompting you to diable file sharing upon dial-up.
Hope there is something there you can use, good luck.
