Post Really bad memory performance on new i815

My dad just got his new mobo, it is an Abit SE6. It uses the new i815 chipset, the one with ATA/100, but it also has onboard video and an AGP port.
The processor I am using is my PIII 667/133.
I have 3 sticks of 128 meg memory. The first is a Mushkin PC100 Rev. A
    2nd is Class A Hyndai
3rd is some "Nanya" memory which says it is PC100, but the chips are marked 7.5 ns
I am running the bus at 133mhz so the processor is at 667 and all memory timings are at 2.
The processor benchmarks a little faster than on my i440BX, but the memory bench is trash. With all memory timings at 3 I was not even able to break 150mb/s. At 2 I got it to 250, but that is no where near my old performance on my i440BX of an ALU of 389 and an FPU of 443.
What do you think is the problem?

maybe the PC100 cant take it. Sell it and get Crucial's PC133 CAS2. That stuff is cheap as hell, and I have it at 157MHz right now

I have an 815 too . . . Some Crucial CS2 7.5ns PC133 RAM will help your scores, but not a whole bunch. With the same RAM, a 440 will always out MEM Bench a 815 . . . it is just a sad part of owning the 915 chipset.

also, if you mix 'n match different types of RAM, the performace won't be optimal. I recommend go shop for some cheap RAMs.

Also, try only use 2 mem slots on i815. Most boards have instabilities if you use more than 2 slots.

This system is 100% intel compatible, although compatibility will degrade by 10% each day.

I will try taking out some of the memory.
Do you think that the drivers for the chipset have anything to do with it? Are there even different versions of i815 drivers; Intel seems to have all the drivers from 440xx to i850 under one driver.

You have to remember, as well, the 440BX ROCKS. Intel didn't make a true "successor" to the BX. The BX was too fast, and clock for clock, faster than the i815.

The one good side, is the i815 should clock higher than the BX, thus improving scores over the older chipset

Yeah, BX's are the fastest, but i815's are still faster than anything VIA put to the table.

Maybe you need to enable memory interleaving.
