Also, can you buy PC2700 right now? Just curious. How much does it cost?
DDR333 is defintely being used since companies are already making their DDR333 boards such as Iwill. You cannot straight up buy it from anywhere that I know of, but Crucial's PC2100 can do 2700 (166 Mhz Bus) fine (which means it is OBVIOUSLY easy to make).
Whereas we have never seen any information pertaining to the performance or specs of PC1066 @ 32 bits bus as you claim.
PC1066 is much farther off than DDR333 obviously.
Check my previous post above
I am not saying that PC1066 is bad, I think it will be very good, but this isn't about PC1066 RDRAM and PC2700 DDR next year - it's about PC2100 and PC 2700 right now against what is current.
Even if PC2700 isn't released for a few months, the DDR266 (PC2100) scores were just barely below those of the DDR333 and RDRAM. I'd still go for the DDR most likely because the difference in motherboard and ram prices could save me anywhere from $100-200 which I can spend on more important things, not just stuff to make my Sysmark scores higher.
Radeon 8500 anyone?

You make a convincing argument, but there are a few things to point out.
PC2700 is not that hard to make and never was. The problem is with the memory controller chips. With speeds of DDR increasing it becomes increasingly complex to design the mobos. This is why we don't see DDR ramping up in speed faster.
Why haven't you heard of 1066 32 bit RDRAMs? I think the reason is marketing hype. Rambus is not sampling their silicon to websites whereas Via and other companies are. Does this mean that they don't have it? No, it's just that people like Tom and Annand haven't gotten a hold of it.
The Rambus roadmap is pretty specific, whereas DDR SDRAM has a foggy future. Here's a good link:
http://developer.intel.com/technolog...ng_IDF2001.pdf
Obviously, they have these products in the lab. This roadmap shows PC1600 (Samsung) in the year 2003. DDR SDRAM will move to 400MHz by 2003 (Samsung) .In addition, RIMMs will move to 64 bit by the year 2005. PC1066, PC1200, and QRSL were all demonstrated in the year 2000. And we haven't even seen what "Yellowstone" is.
http://www.rambus.com/developer/down...hnology_V7.pdf
If you want to compare future technologies, then go ahead. IMO RDRAM would be much faster than future DDR SDRAM solutions. BTW, there is a PC1066 board at Aces hardware. It gave a large performance gain and actually shows lower latency than SDRAM. Also, remember that when PC2700 officially comes out, we will probably have 4 layer PC boards using 4iRDRAM. This will lower price considerably for an RDRAM solution, after all, we are comparing the future.

Yeah I know it's not "real" 6ns pc2700, but it'll do the job.
RDRAM isn't all that impressive (though it has improved) when you compare the ability of one RDRAM RIMM to a DDRSDRAM DIMM. A 400MHzFSB feeding a dual memory channel IS impressive and would be even better with DDR.

Well that was quite a lot to read. But if the projections have held up 1066 could launch with the next P4 in about a month. And I do like to see all those projections of falling RDRAM prices.

Yes, I thought it was interesting that Samsung predicts that RDRAM will cost about a dollar more to make than DDR SDRAM.
