having trouble burning CD's......
hello all,
I'm having buffer underuns when buring at 10X with my HP 9310i.
here are my system specs
AMD 1.1GHZ T-Bird
Abit KT7A-Raid
ATI AIW Radeon
128MB Ram (soon 256)
30GB Quantum HD at ATA-100
Windows ME
I dont see any reason why my drive is getting bufer underuns, I've enabled DMA on all the drives.
I was able to burn a CD at 2X, but thats WAY too slow.....and the same CD drive used to burn at 10X without trouble on my P3-500.
any suggestions?

What software are you using? If it is Adaptec Easy CD Creator, then make sure that you have the Direct CD turned off. Also, clear out the systray.

Have your cd-rom and burner on two different IDE ports. Use Nero, its a darn good program.
Asus a7V
AMD 1200@1310/200FSB
256 PC133 Ram
7200 ata66 maxtor 20gig

ATI AIWpro128
Aopen 12X DVD
Mitsumi CDR-W

I burn with a 12x Plextor with no problem however I use Win98SE and wouldn't have ME on my system. I suggest you set your system with your HD as Master on IDE1, your Burner as Master on IDE2 and the CD-Rom as Slave on IDE2. I guess you could put the CD on the Highpoint controller but I don't think it will make any difference. Turn on DMA on everything, HD, burner and CD. You should have no problems burning at 8X and above.
