    Post RAM not detecting?

Not exactly sure where this is supposed to go but ima post it here....

Anyway i got a new chip of ram (128 MB SDRAM PC133) i borrowed from my friend) and i stuck it in alongside with my old stick of RAM (which is 128 MB SDRAM PC133 as well) but the problem is, when i look it up on dxdiag, 3dmark2001, or one of the nvidia card tweakers, it says i only got 128 MB of ram.... is that supposed to be like that? Im pretty sure both are PC133 cuz they both say pc133 and they both fit... but i think the RAM chips itself is different because one is made by PNY (with Hynix RAM chips) and the otherone is unknown but they got a sticker indicating they both are 128 MB SDRAM PC133... Is it normal for it now to show up? Do i have to play around with the BIOS? When i looked in 3dMark2001 it said that slot 1 and slot 2 had 128mb ram chips in but it only says 128mb is installed... Plz help, thx in advance.

And yes i pushed it in all the way with both ram clip things cliping them in...

More importantly, what do your BIOS and OS say you have?

Try swapping the sticks around in other slots. If that doesn't work, I think you got yourself a bad stick of RAM.

Nah the stick is fine because i tried it stand alone and it works fine, and i did the same with my old one and it worked fine alone... I'll try putting on of the sticks on the far right and one on the far left.... last time i tried sticking both in the my middle 2 sockets it told me to take the sticks out and put them in a diff order...

    What mobo are you using?
sounds like you have 4 dimm slots (you said two middle slots at one point?)

If so try slot 1&2, 3&4, 1&3, and then 2&4.

Also you could use sisoft sandra's motherboard information to check to see which dimm and memory banks is/are working in each config. They (since they're different brands) should show slightly different SPD info. If you just have a bad slot it could help you identify which one it is.

If you don't have it you can get it at...
