- Rename the ATIGART.EXE file to _ATIGART.EXE
- REBOOT
Did it fix my 1x AGP problem? NO! Actually it didn't do a thing.
Why install the AGP drivers only on standard mode? Well, for me Turbo mode causes windows to lockup during loading.
So, Radeon is incompatible with VIA AGP Turbo mode? I think so!
I figured out most of the solution myself except for the renaming the file ATIGART.EXE part. Which I have no idea what it does by renaming it. Anyone here knows?
ATI also told me even my WCPUID is telling me I'm running at 1x, it still could be I'm running at 4x.
Ask for the stability of the Radeon running on 1x AGP. Its very stable no lockups or such so far.
Played Homeworld Cataclysm on 1152x864 max detail for 3 hours straight and no problems at all. Enabling FSAA makes the screen go to the top right corner. Which ATI is aware of the problem.
Actually I could have got the card to work at the first place.
All I needed to do was use the standard AGP mode 1x AGP only, no need to update VIA 4in1s. (I was running 4.24)
Thanks for all the inputs on this subject guys!

Yessum Shades,
I have the same hardware as you ( KA7 etc. ) and the SAME problems exactly, it shuts off the monitor. I said screw it at that point and put my Microstar GeForce2 MX back in which is working fine, thank you very much.
If only ATI and Via could get it together with their shitty drivers!!!!!!
Frustrated,
Captain Insano
PS I emailed a link of this forum page to ATI tech. support for us...
