    Post Sony CPD-G500 question . . .

This monitor is UNBELIEVABLE! However I can't seem to get it to hold the screen size after shutdown. When I power down the screen sometimes re adjusts itself and comes up in a position that is no longer centered and maximized to the edge. Anyone know why this may happen?

    FOUND YOUR THREAD!!

sadly though... i have no definate answers.

    but try this.

IF you are using windows reference drivers (even if they SAY the correct model name and number if you didn't install it, it's a reference driver) then go to sony's homepage and get the correct driver... while you're at it... get their colour management .inf too...

i've seen this happen too... but you have a decent system and card and everything works pretty... so IF the updated drivers don't GO... hm...

dude. while i try to spew my OWN omnipotent power and knowledge... for troubleshooting... there's only one name that i can think of in terms of monitors...

    GoSharks.

if HE doesn't know... noone on this forum knows.

    *scratch scratch*

    now...

i WANT to crap on this thread... but the MODs have given me my first slap on the wrist... (although i actually posted in order to recieve it... sadomachoist that i am...) so i won't SPAM per say.

but that's a kickass choice of monitor there... and i hope you get it solved...

    rememeber.

if you want the yoda of monitors... go to the degoba system and seek GoSharks.

    end transmission

Hrm, well I have a G400, and I don't have the resizing problem when I reboot or startup the comp for the first time after being off. I also even flip off my power strip, so the monitor isn't getting any power at all (California power crisis and all).

I don't think it's a driver issue, since your problem occurs before any driver even loads. What kind of video card do you have? Maybe it's caused there, or maybe it's just a screwey monitor and the problem will always be there? I don't know, but it's an interesting problem to say the least....

I'm really not sure why it does that. It use to do it to me. But it stopped and I don't get the problem anymore.

Maybe you should try to call Sony and see what they say about this. I know I called them once and a why UT ran at 60hz at 16bit. They didn't know, there tech well kinda sucks..

But I guess we'll have to see.

Okay here's the results. I went to the "auto-center" command and it has only one option. ON. If you move the button to the right it auto centers it. After it auto centered, I then resized it. Things aren't perfect but they are alot better. I still get a little movement when I boot up but not much. If I can turn off the auto center please let me know how. I'm going to browse the manual some more for instructions.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

(EXCEPT for the idiot who posted, "Don't turn your computer off." To him I say, if this is your idea of technical support you may want to try posting in Off Topic under the "What's your favorite FPS" threads because they're more your "level of expertise.")

Sony is clueless. This is still a problem. I can't believe a monitor of this quality could present such a problem with no FAQ or knowledge base information recorded about it. I'm not the only one so it's not me or my machine. Unless other people are using the same graphics setup. I dunno but I want resolution. Any other ideas guys?
