Hercules Prophet II TI200 overclocking is death !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got today 3 x Hercules Prophet II TI200's Retail Box and a good friend of mine told me to try to overclock the cards and to give him the best ocerclocking card.
Usualy i dont' do this but for this guy i made an exception.
First i get out the Heatsinks from the memory and discovered that cards hawe Samsung 4Ns DDRam (500mhz) and i was very happy with this.
Cards are 250GPU/400 memory default .
I made the first jump @ 280mhz memory on the first card and i had huge problem with textures in 3Dmark 2001 and Max Payne was allmost unplayable so i droped to 260 mhz but i still had textures problems and instability.
The only stable overclock on the 3 cards was 250/440.
The GPU on the cards work fine @ 290mhz on the 3 cards.
I replaced also in one card the Heatsinks glue with AS II on the memory but i allways got the same result.
May be is a Hercules Bios problem ,..i hawe no ideea but i never seen in my life 4Ns to overclock @ 440 stable "

Ouch.thats not good.
I had one one the way but since stocks are out here in australia i had to wait another 2 weeks.
I cancelled the order today. lol
maybe a good thing.
I ordered the Abit MX400 instead cause i need a MX anyway for another rig and that would get me through the next few weeks.
My sis has a lan party and she'll be using this MSI pro in the 1.4G athlon and the only other spare is an old MX200. i cant stand that card
The GF3 was going to go in the 1.4G.
I couldnt let her take it out with a MX 200 in it
Maybe its just one bad module.
If i got that one,I'd send it back and say i coulnt get it to run on my rig for some unknown reason.
Maybe a different one will be ok.
I was hoping to get well over 500Mhz mem out mine.
I think i'll wait for the Abit now.
The price of the herc did seem a little too good to be true. Im not a real big fan of samsung video memmory.
Thanks.
Notch another one up for leadtek.
