Post Which card is good for US$150 ??

    I got old voodoo3 2000 pci

and I need a good graphic card for money!

    2200mhz @ stock v-core (200 X 11)
    2300mhz @ 1.75v (200 X 11.5)
    2400mhz @ 1.95v (200 X 12.0)

Going higher than 2400mhz is near impossible with air cooling.

Can you save up around $25 more? I'd recommend a ti200. I bought a Gainward GeForce3 ti200 Golden Sample from newegg for $175 shipped and it EASILY overclocks to regular GeForce3 speeds and will go quite a bit further. (All with stock cooling)

ATI Radeon 7500 is quite impressive for only $109? at newegg. It outperforms the Geforce2 Ultra according to a few reviews I read. Quite impressive consdiering the GF2 Ultra is $180. Unless you want to have the latest technology, I'd go with the 7500 and save a good $60 over the GF3 TI200.

That's a PCI card, he probably doesn't have AGP. Get a Geforce 2MX 200 PCI for about 99 bucks.

Well if he's talking PCI, then why not the MX400? Last I heard MX200's were a disgrace to the GeForce name.

the Radeon 64 meg PCI card is a solid card, it ran RTCW pretty damn well coupled with a Pentium 3 533 when i was at my dads for Thanksgiving. Had most of the eye candy on as well.

That may be true but a mobo upgrade sure would be a huge plus.

You do need an AGP slot if you plan to upgrade later.. and a Kyro 2 is a great card. The combo shoud get him at least 6 months of good gameplay. .
