    Post Radeon 7200 vs GF2MX400 vs Kyro2

    I got Pentium3 600 mhz
    Asus MOBO with AGP4x slot
    and 512mg pc133 RAM.

Where I live the stores sell
ATI Radeon 7200 for $70 USD
    Visiontek GF2 MX400 for $75-80 USD
    Hercules kyro2 for $78 USD
ATI Radeon 7500 for $109 USD
    GF2 Ti200 for $119 USD

    which one would perform good?

Also, some review says Kyro2 rox, and some review just trash Kyro2... so, how is Kyro2 compare to all the others.
Is T&L really bog down Kyro2?

    2300mhz @ 1.75v (200 X 11.5)
    2400mhz @ 1.95v (200 X 12.0)

Going higher than 2400mhz is near impossible with air cooling.

i heard some good stories about the Kyro II. Its equal to a GeForce 2 Ultra i think. Its fast, cheap, and good. I would narrow down the selection to the Kyro II and the GeForce 2 Ti. IMO the Ti is better then the Kyro.

Hope you don't expect anything great out of either card on a 600 MHz comp. I guess the card will always be there when you decide to upgrade your cpu though.

GF2 Ti is a great card.. can't say I've looked into Kyro II much.

I've heard that the KyroII needs a powerful CPU to perform very well, although I have no personal experience, even so, I'd shy away with your proc.

I think that he radeon7500 at $109 is your best bet. In the few reviews I've seen it's very close to a GF2 ultra. I think it'd be a better deal than the GF2ti.

Oh...and um...where the hell do you live? Those are some cheap prices .

GF2 Ti will be a better choice than a KYRO2, but a 7500 is nearly as good.

I'd say that the 7200 will be slightly faster than the MX400, but not by a large margin. I wouldn't buy a Kyro2 with a 600mhz CPU.

I'd buy the 7500 myself, as it has much higher clockspeeds than the GF2 you listed.

Although the Radeon 7200 is not much faster than these other cards, it does not rely much on CPU speed and efficiency. Also it has many extra feature that the Kyro 2 and MX's don't have. These include VIVO,DVD, ETC ETC, as well as DDR memory. Have fun..

Okay....are you looking at the Radeon 7200 or 7500?. The 7200 Sux (crippled by SDRAM). The 7500 rocks, and is equal to a GF2 Ultra. It is BETTER than the GF2 Ti200(Trust me). It's also got TV out, dual monitor, and hardware DVD. I am not sure how well is scales with low end CPUs. I get 4558 rdmarks with my below rigs..in Win2k. Do not get the KYRO 2!!! It will suck on your rig, and will perform poorly in future games. Don't get me wrong, K2 is fast card on the right rig...but it has no T&L engine so it sucks in new games like Max Payne.

I would say take the 7500, and after that the ti200

The 7200 does NOT have VIVO. Also, the DVD decoding acceleration of the Radeons is a moot point if you have a decent CPU - I played dvds on a P2-350 with a Voodoo3 with hardly any problems. Granted, hardware acceleration may lend some quality benefits, but I hardly see it as required as long as you have a computer of recent grade.

[edit] just to clarify, any recently made video card can play DVDs. The radeons just have a few more features built into the chip to accelerate DVD playback.

The 7200 also does NOT have DDR SDRAM, it uses regular SDRAM, and as such would not be significantly faster than a comparable GF2 MX.

    I would still recommend the

    ATI Radeon 7500 for $109
    or the
    GF2 Ti200 for $119 USD (I assume it's some kind of GF2 GTS-V to be that cheap)

Of course, either way you go, you would get some performance gains from overclocking that P3-600 - unless it's the EB variant that uses a 133mhz FSB, in which case it'll be hard to get a significant overclock out of it.
