""ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ Steering"" share the IRQ with the videocard ? why this?
Hi i use the Win98SE 0S and i checked the IRQ's and my video card is using IRQ 12 and it also says that "ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ Steering " is in the same IRQ 12 but is the "ACPI IRQ Holder " who hawe the " interrupt request 12" and for the videocard is the "Memory Range 000A0000 000AFFFF" and i think that for this Sisi Sandra can't detect the IRQ for my videocard.
In Sisi Sandra the only thing what i hawe in IRQ 12 is the "ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ Steering "
Do I want this or not ? I also noticed in "Device Manager/System Devices/PCI Bus", it says "IRQ steering enabled". Do I want it disabled, and if so , why ?
Thanx for your time and help
Martin

this controller manages your pci devices, its needed.erase everything from device manager except system devices and reboot.this will reset the irq settings.the controller shares well with most devices.
you could try tweaking your irq settings in bios.it will take some experimentation, take notes, change one setting at a time.
use the pause key at the irq boot screen to see what changes are made.

Whoa....hold on a sec there, high speed. He didn't say he was having any problems, so he sure as hell doesn't want to go screwing around with his settings if nothing is wrong. He just asked a question about the meaning of what he was seeing.
That "Irq holder for pci steering" "steers" the irq to your video card (or other devices). Its not a device itself, so if thats all you see next to the vid card, the irq isn't shared. And if everything seems to be working fine, you don't need to make any changes.
