Goodbye blue nvidia :)
Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye.
Explaining: nVidia lost its throne.
Radeon8500 vs GF3Ti500 1-0.
Facts:
Radeon8500 gives highest 3dmarks.
That means it gives the higher fps in direct3d.
Radeon8500 also wins in OpenGL games, expept in Q3. Comparable performance in Q3.
Radeon8500 has greater image quality.
Features like Truform, HyperZ 2 and SmoothVision improve quality. Far better anisotropy. Better anti-aliasing. No S3 textures bugs.
Radeon8500 has better 2d.
Higher refresh rates. (85Hz in 2048x1536)
Accelerates 2d games. (no more display slowdowns in strategy games, diablo runs smoothly)
Radeon8500 gives the best DVD playback.
Supports iDCT.
Radeon8500 supports Dual Monitor.
Standard TV-out, DVI.
No driver incompatibilities so far. Optimised drivers for better 3d performance.
Good driver support overall.
Radeon8500 costs 299$ (retail price).
Hercules in ATi's side. Gigabyte may follow.
This is not a personal opinion. It is based on reviews and benchmarks.
After all, why should anyone prefer a GF3Ti500 instead of a Radeon8500?

Is it even worth responding to??? Don't we all know the truth; you know... about 3DMarks being artificial and promised but unsupported features on R8500?
Anyway, if it works and you're happy with the card then stick to it and get as much use out of it 'cause you paid $200+ for it.
We nvidiots have even less time to lose - our superior product was $300+

Or for a Geforce 3 ?

Radeon8500's cheaper than a GF3 or a GF3Ti500. Comparable prices with GF3Ti200.( i think so, correct me if i'm wrong)

Depends on your definition of cheap :P
Radeon 8500 and GeForce3 Ti 200 can be had for 170-200$. Standard old GeForce3 goes slightly higher than 200$, the Ti 500 is still above 300 I think and if you want a Radeon 8500 All In Wonder you can shell out 400$ :P (or close to it)
