Question How high can you go (GF2Ultra)

I've been messing about with my nVidia OEM Geforce 2 Ultra...

I ripped off the standards HSF and added a Thermaltake Blue Orb
I also ripped off the memork heastsinks and added the Thermaltake Blue Memory Heatsinks
Added a litlle bit more case cooling to help circulation.

Added Coolbits to registry and started to bump up the core and memory:

As standard the settigns sit at:

    Core: 250MHz
    Memory: 458MHz

    Now it's sitting at:

    Core: 300MHz (+50MHz)
    Memory: 530MHz (+72MHz)

    and no problems yet...

I tried the memory at 540 and was struck by a blank screen but i think she sat at 535 fine... it's only 4ns memory

Has anyone pushed their GF2Ultras any higher than this?

More pushing the core and mem to come and 3DMark scores

    THE RESULT:

    Quite dissapointing... as:

1... I've had a higher score with a lower core/mem with the cpu fsb slighly higher
2... There was a LOT of glitches onscreen when running 3DMark

ah well... on the whole quite happy... it looks cool lol

Well I'm impressed, that's the highest I have ever seen an Ultra go

My Elsa would hit a max of 290/520 with a BLORB and Copper ramsinks. So you have quite an overclock on your hands. Good Luck, and great OC

That is a good OC. However, using just a Pro clocked at 235/485 I got the score below on a 1.6 Tbird. That was like a month ago with 23.11's. No doubt with a 27.xx series they'd be even higher yet. Unfortuneately the card was/is not mine and thus had to be returned to its owner.

    Question

Mnnn...I was using the 23.12's for this... would i see a higher score out of the 27.xx's or less artifacts?

This score look very high , what fsb and settings did you ussed to obtain that score .
    I hawe XP 1800 @ 133 FSB on 8k7A mobo and with Pro card occ @ 240/480 i score only 5150.
The graphics must be cut a lot to obtain such score .

you could try the newest 27.42 drivers, they've been giving a vast majority of ppl a boost in performance. as far as the artifacting and tearing, that's probably because of your high memory speeds. although i can run my gf3 ti500 at mem speeds higher than 590, i get bad artifacts at anything higher, and don't consider it a stable overclock..try to lower your memory speeds just a few mhz and see if they go away

I managed only 5090 with MSI GF2 Pro @ 230/500 with 22.40 drivers on TB 1.5@ 1.5Ghz via FSB,DDR ram at fastest timming.

Ive had it at 248/520 but it was messed up in 3D2K1 it gave me some nice OpenGL scores though.

Just as a matter of interest. It would take a GF2 clocked at 300/570 to catch a stock GF3 Ti200.

    Thumbs up

    Thats pretty good!!

My Hercules GF2 ULTRA did 325/495 with the hercules cooling... I did apply OCZ quick silver on the gpu after removing the thermal pad that was there. I just didn't have the guts to mess about with the Ram sinks...

OK...I lowered the memory down a few notches to 523MHz...no corruption whatsoever now...I updated the detonators to 27.42...upped the cpu to 1643MHz 1.85VCore 143FSB

    AFTER:

I'm pretty pleased with that ... looks like the old GF2Ultra still has some life left in her for the next couple of months anyway

    Thanks for your help guys

    Cool

Sorry forgot to mention i used Artic Silver II when I slapped the Blue Orb on... haven't actually tried pushing the core above 300MHz yet...don't know if it would make a great deal of difference though with it choking on the lower memory bandwidth... I'll give it a shot later on

I can't remember which driver version i was using... but it peaked at 325 core which is where i remeber hitting a wall... although the core was still clocking higher with NVMAX... I would suggest you lower the core to around 275-280...this will mean less heat and perhaps you can take the memory a few notches higher... Core OC from 275 to 325+ did nothing for me in perfomance.. perhaps 1to3 FPS.. maybe? but i could never notice it exceot the increase in case heat...
