SB Live! value question
I just installed my sb live card, the problem is i cant get rid of the control panel on the top of my screen. Question is: how can i make sure the creative launcher (or something like that) wont load when i turn my computer on.

I used a utility (unfortunately I don't remember the name) that I downloaded for free that allowed me to decide exactly what I did and did not want loaded upon Windows startup. I tried several solutions prior to that but this was the only one that worked.

you can go to Start > Run > msconfig.exe
the startup tab lets you disable/enable what you want to disable at startup... but be careful, dont disable something you dont know like Task Monitor, Scan Registry, Load Power Profile, or SysTray
other than that you should be golden

For a more complete investigation, check out the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/
Under here are keys like Run, RunOnce, RunServices, RunServicesOnce.
Alot of times, programs will drop their info here instead of /Start Menu/Starup where we could easily delete things.
Again, follow the above advice and don't delete low-level windows stuff, but the Creative programs will be easy to find.

just go on the little creative 'A' in the top left and then go on properties, then remove the tick by load at startup? thats what u do if your talking about the same thing that used to start up on mine

I hated the control panel. I unloaded the whole SB Live! application package and just installed the driver. Infact, the driver you are using is probably old if it's on a disk. Go to the website and see if you can find the new driver. Then just load that. OR if you want, get the driver off the CD, it's in a file marked Win9x. I'm at work right now, so I can't remember what the file is right now. I've got a Live! card at home.

Yeah, like RealPlayer. That is the single-most intrusive program on the planet. I HATE it.
