IRQ Conflict causing slow LAN ???

Please help!
I have 3 computers on my home LAN
1 is a server. 1 is my brothers machine and 1 is my machine.
I have got 3Com 3C905C-TX NIC's in all machines. They are all setup the same, BUT MY machine has VERY slow file access to the other two whereas they communicate very nice and fast. I have a NetVin 100meg hub which they are all plugged into.
I have tried different cables but no joy.
The only thing I could think of was the fact the Win2K Pro. is sharing IRQ 11 with the GFX card, NIC card, Adaptec SCSI card, Sound Card and USB!
My brothers machine also has this sharing going on, but he has a different motherboard so maybe it does not affect it as bad?
When I try to copy files the collision light flashes LOADS. This never happens on the other two.

hmmm if the collision light is going nuts then I don't think the slowdown is in the system configuration. Have you tried swapping which ports the computers are plugged into? Sometimes ports can go bad on the hub. Also try fiddling with the duplex settings for the network card in the network settings control panel. Manually set it to 100Mbit and Duplex if your hub supports it. also make sure the IP offloading is turned on on the 3com card. As a last resort, try moving the slot that the 3com occupies in the trouble machine, juggle some components if necessary.

I read something about how people with multiple nics in their PC's should choose differnt brands. and yes, IRQ conflict is probably the problem. Try getting a differnt brand NIC, they can run for VERY low prices.

First things first. What protocol are you using on the LAN? NetBUI or IP?

What protocols are bound to the card? Is the card running Half or Full Duplex?

We need to check the basics before we shoot for the stars here.

Cheers you guys...I installed NetBEUI on the machines and it seems to be perfect now! Thanks again (it was running just TCP/IP)

This might sound stupid, but I had the same problem when I had AOL installed on my comp. I got rid of that crap and now I am fast as can be on my LAN. Worth a shot if you have AOL installed.
